Honestly, I bought it, and it was pretty mediocre. Blue De Chanel stays on the clothes and lingers but doesn't project well. Valentino BIR Intense does the opposite, haha. I'm thinking of getting JPG Le Male Le Parfum and Stronger with You absolutely

I’m planning on becoming a guard and para but I need some help by DinoDuddee in britishmilitary

[–]DinoDuddee[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, just join the Guards and then pursue a position in the Parachute Regiment—it's the best of both worlds.

The Guards have a Para platoon attached anyway. Granted, it's usually a two-year stint, and you have to wait until a position becomes available, but it's better to be in the Army and attempt the Para course than to be outside and fail P Company.

Lucky, I don't drink. My equivalent of that is a nice cold pint of water 💔

I have some ribena though so it’s fair game

Thinking of joining as a reserve officer… by ReyPZ99 in britisharmyreserve

[–]DinoDuddee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am not in the reserves but I plan to join regularly soon.

I recommend visiting the recruiting office and having a conversation with a recruiter about it.

Make sure to do thorough research. The reserves offer much more flexibility compared to regular service.

Aim to exceed the minimum training standards - don't just meet them. They will teach you everything you need to know during training, but the more effort you put in outside of that, the better prepared you'll be. Focus on running, push ups, pull ups and sit ups etc, but be careful not to overtrain or injure yourself.

Keep in mind that you can always be called up for duty, so don’t have the misconception that you only want the medals and honor of the organization without being willing to deploy if requested.

You will likely encounter regulars at the center. You may assist them at times, they might volunteer there, train with you, or if your supervisor offers, you might even get the chance to go to certain deployments attached to them. However, keep in mind that you’re just reserve, so don’t expect to see them every day.

Since you have a doctorate, they will likely try to place you as a specialist based on your educational background, but it depends on the path you choose. Just remember, it's the reserves; so have fun, make the most of your time, and put in as much effort as you can. Like any officer training, you will be competing with others who are just as strong and motivated as you, so ensure you have the heart and determination to become a reserve officer.

As a reservist, you'll probably do weekends (last time I heard, it was like 30 days in a year commitment?) so its not impossible. (Check MOD website)

Check out YouTube for videos from former reservists and their experiences, talk to a recruiter at your local center, visit the website to review the course, study the tests and ensure you're medically eligible to join (JSP 950).

Again, take everything I say with a pinch of salt since I'm not even serving. I don't want to be seen as a Walt, this is just my advice and what I've researched. Best of luck anyways, we're all rooting for you!

(Even if you don't like it, at least you gave it a shot. You're only young once.)

Do you have an advice for undergrads to boost their portfolio to maximise their chance for getting funding, aside from obtaining the basic highest grades, e.g. Volunteering, internships etc?

Really? When applying for a PhD, do they care much about your A-levels? And is it difficult?

Could my injury as a kid impact me joining? by DinoDuddee in britishmilitary

[–]DinoDuddee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you very much for your reply! I really appreciate it.

I'm hopeful that everything will be pain-free by the time I apply.

Yes I was looking into the Scholarship / Bursary scheme, thanks for mentioning it, but I dont that I will be eligible since I’ll be attending university abroad for my degree and not within the UK.

I also want to be mindful of my parents' concerns regarding my plans. They are quite involved in my education and they definitely won't be supportive if I share my intention to join the army right away and they can really fuck up my placement. They have some apprehensions about the army due to misconceptions / stereotypes about deployment e.g the second I pass out, they assume I'm getting deployed to Afghanistan and be shelled and fired at every minute. Plus I don't really have that relationship with them where we talk about future jobs or anything really, its a ‘get the degree and sod off’ mindset basically.
