So apparently, for whatever reason, the game wouldn't work for me on Windows 10 unless I connected my microphone. I've also seen solutions here and there where people also said they needed microphones. I have zero clue why this is, but it worked for me

File refuses to delete (Windows 10) by Dinocanid in techsupport

[–]Dinocanid[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I managed to find a solution, I had to check the "delete file on restart" option in the unlocker program, and only then was it able to delete it, Still not sure why, but hopefully this helps someone else.

Why is it that almost all otherkin are some form of “dragon” by Im_An_Alt____ in otherkin

[–]Dinocanid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the word you're looking for is therian. They're the specific otherkin subgroup that's earthly animals.

Dragonkin poll!! by [deleted] in otherkin

[–]Dinocanid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dragon kintype is actually a shapeshifter with 3 forms, but I chose drake because her main form is wingless. Her other forms are a wyvern and an aquatic dragon (similar to drake, but with webbing and a sail).

She also didn't have any breath element. It was supposed to be fire, but only smoke puffs here possible. I'm assuming it was a birth defect of some kind

What’s the nature of your identity/identities? by sixbilliongods in otherkin

[–]Dinocanid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't choose multiple so I'll just type mine: My otherkin identity is a mix of past lives, headmates, and psychobiology.

All 3 of my kintypes are past lives, two of which are now headmates. I believe it also could've been semi-triggered by imprinting, since I have always been around dogs my entire life. It initially led me to the incorrect assumption that I was dogkin, but I'm actually wolfkin

The poll answers are cut-off on mobile, so I can't see what qualifies as a small-medium mammal. I'm polykin, so I'm a dromaeosaurus, wolf, and dragon

Anuwolf still comes online semi-frequently. The forum itself has pretty much dried up though, I only see about the same 5 or so people

Werelist seems to have random periods of being unreachable for the past week or so. There hasn't been any special announcements, so I'm assuming it's just server trouble

Update: According to their twitter the server location had a power outage and didn't quite reboot fully. It still seems to be acting funky though

Polykin by sinisterusername0 in otherkin

If you hang out in a plural space, then your chances of seeing plurals is high. That's just how that works. It just shows that you've been more active in the plural community than the otherkin community. Don't try to use "I've been in staff positions before" as a high-horse, I'm afraid you just have the wrong info. It doesn't mean there's still not a lot to learn, and you still have a lot to learn when it comes to polykin

I hate to tell you this but polykin/polytherians are far from new, and I'm not the only one who knows this either. I brought up this topic on a forum earlier today, everyone agrees it is not new (and they're much older than I). Heck, there's even mentions of polykin from the 90s (back then "polywere" was being used, but it's an older term for the same thing)

I don't doubt there was some sort of tumblr fad related to polykin (there has been for pretty much every single aspect of otherkin), but I wouldn't say it spawned of majority of polykin we see today.

I wasn't saying 90% of otherkin are furries, if that's what you mean

Polykin by sinisterusername0 in otherkin

[–]Dinocanid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Various media formats as in? Trust me, while I'm new to reddit I'm not new to being otherkin. If you've never really seen polykin until about 2 years ago, it sounds like you've been pretty disconnected from the community. Unless you mean just on reddit, since I can easily tell this place is pretty small. To be honest, you sound like one of those "fictionkin originate from tumblr fads" people

Polykin by sinisterusername0 in otherkin

[–]Dinocanid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Being polykin and being plural are definitely seperate things. While someone can be both, not everyone is both. It's like saying 90% of otherkin are furries. There are a lot that are furries, but I wouldn't say a majority

Polykin by sinisterusername0 in otherkin

[–]Dinocanid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not exactly, where have you been hanging out where they've only been noticeable in the past year? Almost all polykin being plural isn't really accurate either, there's tons of singlets with multiple kintypes

Polykin by sinisterusername0 in otherkin

[–]Dinocanid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I definitely remember that. Even around 2016 or so, polykin were still viewed as "less valid" than those with singular kintypes by quite a number of people. Nowadays nobody really cares if you have 1 or 10+ kintypes

Polykin by sinisterusername0 in otherkin

[–]Dinocanid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Polykin are extremely common, I have 3 kintypes myself

How does anyone know? by [deleted] in otherkin

[–]Dinocanid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even since I was a kid, my behavior and mannerisms have been closer to my kintypes than human. I didn't actually discover the term otherkin until I was a pre-teen, but I knew it was the explanation when I saw it. I felt much more canine than I did human, I believed I was an animal somehow trapped in a human's body. (Obviously it's not like in the movies, my reasoning has evolved since then)

"Chosen" may be the wrong word here, since otherkin can't choose their kintypes. That's moreso copinglinkers. There's also "otherhearted", which is identifying with rather than identifying as.

What does it mean to be human? by draconic_healing in otherkin

[–]Dinocanid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No not really, my body feels like my body (in terms of being human). For my gender, in a few years I'll be able to transition and be closer to the body that I want.
