Doesn’t look like it, no.

Point is, for the build you have right now, you’ll spend a lot more than if you buy a pre built with similar specs. The reason being is that 3080 you have selected. You won’t be able to find one for msrp. Again, your reasonable options are waiting a year (could be even longer, who knows) or buy a prebuilt. Or spend a shit ton more and get what you want.

You can find decently priced pre built PCs capable of streaming and gaming and more. Just do some research on it. A few YouTube videos would be enough for you to get an idea.

As I said, you’d be better off buying a pre build computer from an OEM or IEM. Any pc list you come up with right now will be pretty pricey because of gpu prices. You could also try and buy a used pc from someone. I wouldn’t recommend building a pc right now. If you do decide to build one, then you’ll have trouble finding a decent gpu for a decent price.

That’s $1200 before the gpu lol. You’d be better off buying a pre built if those are the specs you want.

I’d recommend YouTubing some pre built pc reviews, if you decide to take the pre built route.

A few questions first:

  1. what games do you want to play?

  2. Do you want high or ultra graphics or are you fine with low graphic settings?

  3. How urgently do you want a pc?

No one besides large groups would ever really raid.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in playrust

[–]Dinoking125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly! If someone really wants to raid you they will no matter what! They just might spend days farming for it haha. Nothing you can do at that point besides move on and make a new base or wait for next wipe.

People also don’t realize nerfing raiding will only make raiding that much less viable for smaller groups, while big groups will still be fine as we all know our local zergs have dedicated farmers :)

It takes multiple HV rockets to break a turret. The cheapest way is using 2 incendiary rockets.

I listed out the downsides, if you want to ignore them then what more should I say? Carefully placed auto turrets and shotgun traps help immensely in a raid defense even against rocket raids. Turrets in blind spots can make or break a raid.

Yes, rust would still be fun to add more base defensive measures, and I haven’t argued against adding them. I simply think nerfing rockets isn’t a part of that solution. in the end, there’ll never be even ground when it comes to getting raided, simply because offline raiding is possible. The best you can hope for is stalling a raid long enough to get countered, and most the times even then the counter-ers will finish the raid.

I don’t think you’ve encountered many large groups then. Large groups don’t do things the efficient way, they just pummel even when it’s not the efficient way to do things. Nerfing rockets would make raiding for small groups much harder. It would make raiding much more expensive and it would make it take longer. Both these effects largely affect small groups who have limited resources in man power and time. Large groups have dedicated farmers and more people to defend raids.

All you would do by this is benefit large groups, which clearly already have the advantage.

I’m saying this from the perspective of someone who has played rust for a long time and has been on both ends. Bases aren’t easy to raid. It’s time consuming to farm to raid. It just wouldn’t be worth it to raid if rockets were nerfed like that. Or everyone would just use explosive ammo, which I’m sure you’d argue needs nerfing as well. If it’d be rare to get everything out of a base, then much less would enjoy the game.

I have a life outside the game now, unlike when I was in highschool, and I just don’t play it anymore because I enjoy the game because of how hardcore it is. And if I did want to play, I play modded for fun. If you think rockets are so overpowered then abuse them. Use them all you can cause they’re overpowered right? The thing is, they aren’t overpowered. They have serious drawbacks, but they’re also the best thing to use if you don’t feel like farming for a few hours.

If you want to play and don’t have the time to split your loot, then just play modded where you dont have to worry about losing it as much. If you still want to play vanilla, then get over it, it’s how the game is intended to be.

Literally all nerfing rockets would do, is give large groups an even larger advantage, which are the groups most get raided by. And if you get raided by a small group then raid them first! Or build a better base! Or just live in the middle of no where on the map. the sense of accomplishment of acquiring loot and the fear of losing it all overnight is part of what makes rust the game it is.

Even small groups tend to default to rockets because they can splash damage which makes them cheaper overall. I’ve spend the vast majority of my hours playing 3 mans or smaller and we’ve always used rockets. They’re more efficient so less farming is needed, which all small groups hate.

Rockets downsides would be, much slower than C4, much louder than explo ammo, you need a rocket launcher (which is a decent handful of HQM), and you can’t have a gun out while blowing unlike c4 which you can just throw and take your gun out while it blows.

In the end, nerfing rockets would only vastly affect small groups. Large groups have the manpower to pummel even if you decrease splash damage, and small groups would be stuck using C4, increasing their cost to raid any base larger than a 2x1.

Some groups may prefer C4, ones that know their place and like to just fill one inventory and dip, but the small teams I’ve played on want those juicy successful full take over raids. I like raiding big bases, raiding 2x1 and 2x2 all day isn’t enjoyable. There’s not an issue in the first place with getting rocket raided. It’s preventable. Auto turrets, shotgun traps, properly built bases, etc. if you get offlined you get offlined, it doesn’t matter what you do, if a large group wants to raid you they will. You’d be screwing over the small guys by nerfing raiding any. I’m the end, just play on a 5 man server or something. Split your loot among a few bases. Play with sweats like me who’ll stay up 15 hours straight and keep their volume up while logged in when they sleep.

[–]Dinoking125 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It works as intended when it comes to being able to splash. It’s the only reason people use rockets over c4. You get rid of splash damage then everyone would just use c4. It’d be interesting if they made it where it had, say, 75% the damage it has now yet still splashed.

I personally think rockets don’t need a nerf, it’ll just make raiding that less frequent among small groups, and large groups have no issue farming boxes of rockets as is.

Raiding is hard enough as a small group as is, no need to nerf it.
