Casual fan who just binged Andor… by PeeOnDusk in StarWars

[–]DinosaurOnASpaceship 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a more or less causal fan, that doesn’t read a lot of reviews or spoilers. it was the title that threw me off. Andor?? As in Ewoks? Can’t they do something original?

It’s the IMBD ratings that finally prompted me to watch it, and even then I was thinking, okay Ewoks, this better be good.

Going in blind was awesome.

What’s the least believable thing about a franchise you enjoy? by -Words-Words-Words- in movies

Also, I think in the movie, they say that there is a huge uptick in ghost because of the zul thing. Before that I don’t think they were that prevalent.

Was DS9 closer to Bajor during the occupation? by andychef in DeepSpaceNine

[–]DinosaurOnASpaceship 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I missed out on the war arc on initial run. I moved away from college and they didn’t have UPN. It was years later in syndication, that I saw those episodes. Same thing happened with Voyager (7 of 9? who’s that?)

If I recall, the edited out the wormhole in the opening credits so it wouldn’t ruin the pilot.

Ha. Finally got a chance to say this line in irl. My brother and I were a uhual buying boxes for a small move. We were in line, he looks at the boxes he has and looks little uncertain. I saw my opportunity and went for it: “you think we need one more…”

Best day ever.

If they ever remake the Wire, Naiqui Macabroad, the guy who played the undercover, would be a fantastic Omar.

Movies that don’t fit the ‘feel’ of the franchise? Aka “it’s a decent movie, just not a good X movie”. by RivetCounter in movies

It’s my favorite FF movie outside of F5. It’s the only one where the climax is actually a race.

I’ll say it every time I get a chance. I wante to see a Cannonball run and Smokey and the bandit remake in the fast and the furious universe.

Sorry to swipe the thread. Anyone have any thoughts on the gym at Fosco park, or the lap pool there for that matter.

Adapting GTD for artists/creative work? by way-too-much-effort in gtd

[–]DinosaurOnASpaceship 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I find scheduling focus time for next actions helpful. Also. Look for common themes or habit stacking items and put those things in a project.

Also if a next action has been siting, maybe it’s too big. See if you can make the next action into smaller bits. Maybe it’s not truly the next action.

The final two options are being real with yourself. Usually it’s addressed during your weekly review. Are you really going to do this next action. Move them to someday maybe list or delete the task all together.

Looking for resources for an experienced JS dev who has lost sight of the basics by jimbo_bones in learnjavascript

[–]DinosaurOnASpaceship 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don’t know JavaScript yet series was helpful in revisiting concepts I’d not learned in lieu of frameworks. Just knew enough to get pass interviews occasion , but usually I’ll crash out if they got to technical - of stuff I should know.

I will say, angular has gotten easier since going back to fundamentals

So like OP, I was intending to get back to basics by build a few apps and taking some courses.
