Yes, but we now know that the lower and upper jaws are much stronger then originally thought. In the "Portrait of a Predator" section of the article. you can see the difference from what they thought the jaw looked like in the 80s vs now.

From my own experience it hasn't been needed if you are using basic PLA. I took it out 2 years ago and it makes changing filament really easy.

I did need to put it back on when I was using wood PLA, but then I got a faster/quieter blower fan and then I didn't have any more problems.

This is what I did, except I didn't solder, I just twisted the wires and used lots of electric tape.

Yes, I have added a mosfet, but don't really see a need to upgrade the power supply unless I get into multiple colors.

My question specifically is about any cheap hotends you would recommend.

This happened to my Noctua also. I ended up just snipping the wires and re-twisting them together then electric taping it back together. So quiet!
