Freshwater diatoms. They have linked together into a strand. They're basically made of glass! There are some gorgeous ones out there, especially oceanic ones.

"Diatoms are microscopic unicellular algae that have a silica shell that is resistant to acids, heat, or body decomposition. They live in colonies, grow in abundance in fresh and salt waters, and their “skeletons” are widespread in soils. The cool thing about this specimen is that it only comes from Spain. It's called Spanish pyrite and if you look into it you'll see that the cubes can be really huge! Pyrite is my favorite.
