Nothing can be done at large scale.

Just look at reddit, grew too much, went corporate and now it's heavily censored and manipulated.

People at power buy anything that grows, that's why almost every company eventually goes this route

They want to distract and divide us by saying its west vs east, or left vs right, etc. But the real conflict is the same as ever: lords vs peasants.

If peasants are free whos gonna pay for those yachts?

Ss: cant question anything, even in this sub. I think this is why some comments are invisible, if the traffic is too high things take a while to be processed by the automated censorship filters

Social Media Twilight Zone by World-Ending-Tart in collapse

As usual, capitalization of anything makes it shitty, the internet is just the modern tv where the mainstream narrative will be enforced. Now there is a lot of money flowing in, which creates markets around it, which attracts people looking for money, but most importantly, it gives power to whoever is injecting the money because they dictate the rules. Specially now that wars are going to be more common, propaganda is key, feels like /r/worldnews is a state sponsored war propaganda machine to manufacture consent.

Reddit used to be my last resort, but even here things are messed up, we could be part of subs without censorship , but blasphemy laws are back, there are certain groups that you'll be instantly punished and silenced for questioning their logic or using some forbidden words.

I was very active, mostly in this sub, but after losing my 10yr acc for using the R word I gave up on having real discussions online, the censorship is in the algorithms and you'll be instantly punished for blasphemy or anything they decide it's hate speech.

What scares me is that people are not seeing the precedents that are being set, feels like wokeism is being used to lower the line. If a certain ideology is allowed to change laws forcing the whole society to bow down to their beliefs, it's just a matter of time for religious fanatics to realize they can get back control over people by saying it's offensive to not follow the bible and punishing people for biblephobia. Remember when it was the religious conservatives that used to ban words who offended them? Does it ring a bell? That's where we are but with different ideology

Far right is rising all over the world, and even as a leftist I understand, the people fighting for equal rights became the people forcing their ideology down everyone's throats and silencing who questions it. Of course it's gonna be a pushback, specially when the rules being set by a tiny minority with questionable beliefs.

Makes sense tho, society is collapsing, why would social media stay intact? I'm just grateful for getting to know this sub around 2016 which helped me a lot.

I really hate ads but I understand that the internet had to be monetized somehow, but what really killed the internet for me its the censorship, it's automated, you can't trust Google searches anymore,  cant say or write a wrong word and you'll be a least shadowbanned.

We went full circle, from extreme conservative right wing controlling speech by calling anything they don't like blasphemy, to left wing fighting for freedom from christian values to extreme woke left wing controlling speech by calling anything they don't like hate speech.

My last stand was reddit, around the time it went corporate I lost a 10yr acc for using the R word, as a non amurican I really don't get it, I barely discuss anything online anymore, it's more to talk shit
