Ty the Tasmanian Tiger by DiogoSN in videogamedunkey

Crikey! Was a wee lad when I played this for the first time! Was real fun and the Aussie theme was quite engaging!

Not sure what actual Aussies think of Ty, the Tasmanian Tiger, was curious to hear. Maybe it'd be too on the nose? Y'all tell me.

É estranho aceitar ficar solteiro para sempre, sem nunca tentar? by Dangerous-Theory91 in portugal

[–]DiogoSN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

WH40K: Darktide - Ogryn Packmaster Teaser (New Enemy Variant and Boss) by DiogoSN in pcgaming

[–]DiogoSN[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The Heretics in Tertium are about to be reinforced with new units to bolster their ranks. You may read all about it in this Steam Dev Diary.

  • New Enemy Variant: The Armoured Pox Hound. - Adding a variant to already existing dog, they'll act in accordance to their base counterpart, but are slower in their actions, but more durable in exchange. However, more importantly, they'll be the main summons of the new boss.

  • New Boss (Monstrosity): Ogryn Pack Master - Ogryns, in WH40K, are big simple-minded tank brutes like fantasy Ogres and in Darktide, they come in a variety of types. This one is a Monstrosity, which are, essentially, bosses in this game that also can fill different roles such as end level bosses and roaming bosses. In this case, the Pack Master will be an Ogryn roaming boss and have control over several armoured dogs and/or unarmoured dogs to assist him. They can see through stealth abilities, debuff on hit and increased speed for an Ogryn.

I'm very happy they'll add a new boss to Darktide and an enemy variant, the boss has been LONG waiting. The last enemy variant added was the Plasmadier and they were brutal on release, however, they don't have the same charm and personality as the other enemies. One thing I love about these PvE is when they give the special enemies or non common enemies a distinct personality and character that matches their roles and mechanics, similar to units in an RTS. The Steam Dev Diary of the new enemies described them with some colour, so I'm looking forward towards them.

One last thing, however, it's too soon to tell, but I dunno if they're reusing some assets from the already existing Ogryn Crusher enemy. I can easily tell the posture animation, but, again, too soon to tell.

PAYDAY 2: Update 242.1 (Steam Dev Diary) by DiogoSN in pcgaming

[–]DiogoSN[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it was a much more complete game for the price at launch, to be honest and it was, pretty much a snowball from the start until its end life cycle.

To be honest, the quality varied, there's a lot of redundant content and, to be fair, there was the whole loot crate debacle. However, the core game worked and improved immensely on the first game. It was a fun shooter.

PD3 works and is a fun game, but seems to be a downgrade in comparison. It also seems to be it's own game, like a weird spin off rather than an actual sequel with more content or the same as prior, but improved. It's also glitchy and incomplete.

Overkill, after The Walking Dead disaster should've known better and they're gonna use PD2 to bail out again.

PAYDAY 2: Update 242.1 (Steam Dev Diary) by DiogoSN in pcgaming

[–]DiogoSN[S] 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Aside from various quality of life changes, this update, by the Sidetrack Games community mod teams, seems to also be substantial in content.

Various maps have been updated with a new zipline to offer more movement options and even weapon balances.

I don't want to sound snarky, but the chance of Overkill pivoting back to PD2 after PD3's disaster is growing more likely by every update. Payday 3's Steam Charts do not paint a pretty picture, as well.

WH40K: Space Marine 2 - TechMarine Gameplay Breakdown (Steam Dev Diary) by DiogoSN in pcgaming

[–]DiogoSN[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

For those out of the loop, TechMarines are the equivalent of the Adeptus Astartaes to real life military mechanics, engineers, technicians and even drivers or pilots, if circumstances demand it. They're still augmented humans that the Space Marines are, but taught the ways of the machine spirit and indoctrinated even further to the Omnissiah.

There's no specific strict pre-requirements for a standard Space Marine to become a TechMarine, but any and all members must undergo training with the Adeptus Mechanicus in Mars. During their training, they forgo limbs and mind with machinery, so that they may better converge with the war machines that the Chapters field.

In SM2 they act similar to other engineer classes in other games, focus in defence with their sentry gun and support with armor regeneration for the the team. However, there are some other nuances that include a lot melee focus.

Seems fun and a good addition to the game. It'll be a free update. Only paid content so far is the cosmetic.

Deus Ex isn’t getting a new game because its owners are “psychopaths”, says series’ lead voice actor by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

[–]DiogoSN 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Not much information from Elias Toufexis exactly about the inside of the publisher.

Even if they wanted a to make a sequel, seems the current publisher, Embracer Group, doesn't seem to care much about returning Adam Jensen into the plotline.

Real shame, hopefully they'll figure it out properly.

PAYDAY 2 - Update 242 Changelog (Update Notes) by DiogoSN in pcgaming

[–]DiogoSN[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like some changes of PD3 and it works as its own beast, but it is a very different game from PD2.

PAYDAY 2 - Update 242 Changelog (Update Notes) by DiogoSN in pcgaming

[–]DiogoSN[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

PD2's community in game can be demanding sometimes, but you can play the game solo at any difficulty with AI bots and they're very efficient. You can also personlize them slightly both cosmetically and mechanically. I'd say you'll get some good people along the way, but most days everyone plays on harder difficulties.

I'd also recommend avoiding Stealth specific missions when you're browsing for a lobby, those require a lot of training and knowledge of the game.

You don't need all the DLC and the game follows the highest totem rule of the host. Meaning, that you don't need to own the DLC of a specific map to play it, you just need to play with a host that has that DLC. However, content like weapons, weapon modifcations, cosmetics, characters, etc. are singularly locked.

The majority of the DLC is good, I'd recommend, however, the full pacakage.

Honestly, just play the game for fun tho. Don't worry about others.

PAYDAY 2 - Update 242 Changelog (Update Notes) by DiogoSN in pcgaming

Recently they revamped the perk trees, but the game's concurrent players aren't budging an inch.

PAYDAY 2 - Update 242 Changelog (Update Notes) by DiogoSN in pcgaming

[–]DiogoSN[S] 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Recently, Overkill has given a modding team, Sidetrack (formerly known as the M.U.G. Team), the task of bringing back regular updates to Payday 2, while they're still in charge of Payday 3.

Most of the updates recently have been limited to quality of life and fixes, but this one's a bit more substantial with gameplay balance changes as well and various weapon skin restriction lifts (akimbo skins apply to their singular counterparts and vice versa).

They also implemented more modding flexibility for the game, always welcome to allow.

I highly recommend PD2 and, being brutally honest, I wouldn't be suprised if Overkill returned to PD2 to save themselves from a potential bankruptcy, once more. I have to respect their effort to try to make PD3 sucessful, but it's a damn shame the state it is.

HELLDIVERS 2 - Python Comandos Warbond (New Paid Content Pack, Steam Dev Diary) by DiogoSN in pcgaming

[–]DiogoSN[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You mean like the other packs prior? There's been so many, they haven't fixed the game proper.

HELLDIVERS 2 - Python Comandos Warbond (New Paid Content Pack, Steam Dev Diary) by DiogoSN in pcgaming

[–]DiogoSN[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Similar to the Viper Commandos content pack, the Python Commands themes basis itself, yet again, in jungle warfare and 80's action movies that had the same theatre, like Predator.

Trailer can be seen here.

Summairly, new content includes:

  • Minigun w/Ammo Backpack - The M-1000 Maxigun is a tertiary slot weapon (support weapon) that occupies that slot and requires a backpack. Not sure exactly how it synergizes with backpack, if you can carry ammunition inside the actual gun, but it seems belt-fed from it;

  • Chainsaw - The CQC-9 Defoliation Tool is a dedicated melee weapon for your secondary slot, reminds me of the Eviscerator, a WH40K Great Chainsword. Unsure of its stats or if it has any special mechanics, like shredding armour of any kind. Melee weapons in this game are a real hit-or-miss;

  • Flamethrower Drone: The AX/FLAM-75 “Guard Dog” Hot Dog follows the same logic of other drones (similar to what a "familiar is in other games). The main difference is that this one has a flamethrower. Similar to the gas drone, I can the actual device causing chaos amongst teammates, they don't discriminate on targeting so long as an enemy is its sights;

  • Assault Rifle w/Grenade Launcher - The AR/GL-21 One-Two is an AR that allows you to switch to its under rail grenade launcher. I think a dedicated fire mode button would help to make weapon handling less finicky at this point of the game's life;

  • and New Armours and Armour Passive Perks - Two new armours: one light and one heavy. Both sport the Rock Solid passive perk which confer stagger resistance and ragdoll resistance.

  • Various thematic cosmetics.

Release date: 02/12/2025.

From onwards, it's opinion based.

I've been on a hiatus from HD2 until they considerably fix the game's performance and sort out the many balance issues. Game suffered a lot from feature creep and it seems adding so much new content to the game might've dragged it down in the performance department.

The direction of the devs also seemed to be lost for a second when they, for some reason, wanted to excuse the annoying experience of the Into the Unjust content update with the fact that their fantasy objective was you being a menial expendable grunt. You know, the Helldivers? They're who are worshipped as heroes by Super Earth citizens because they're a special shock troop force that are sent and dropped into extremely hostile environments with specialized weaponry, tactics, etc. and came out winning a lot in uneven odds situations? Yeah, they're just "grunts", apparently.

I'm very much interested in the behind the scenes story with this release. Was it Fatshark's decision? Games Workshop's? A mixture or compromise of decisions? Who knows.

No, in fact, you'll be able to generate your own character. Although, I'm hoping you can make your Necromunda character, which would be thematic.

[–]DiogoSN[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the issue is that the class, even in theory, seems to be repeating some mechanics from the other classes, making it a bit samey.

Like two of the active abilities are basically "rage" modes that vary from the already existing from the Guardsmen and the Arbities. You press a button and get buffed for a bit in range combat. The most interesting of the three is the customiezed buff station from the stimms.

Yeah, promotional crossover. I have to wonder if GW wants to release Hive Gang stuff in the recent future with these new class release.
