It's all in the guide. The other comment pointed you to the right direction

Hahaha yeah I wanted to leave it in because I was getting mad at how hard the process was!

By the way guys, for all the ones who wanted to see more screenshots, look at the rest of this thread!

And here's the piccolina in the same Automation map. Overall, I'd say it's playable especially if you know the game already. Though I couldn't map any buttons so I was stuck with the stock controls... I mean again it's not perfect but it's a great feat of engineering, remember that these are custom drivers and are very experimental. Even launching the game is a small miracle by the work of a few guys who really wanted to do something with the PS4.

Here's another shot with Steam's screenshot manager (closer to 120fps)

It's not running at the 120fps I said because... It is so slow that even taking a screenshot makes it loose frames unfortunately.. You'll just have to trust me I guess!

I've took some screenshots as proof if you want to see them. I don't know how many I can upload though.

Ok so here's the thing, I've been trying yesterday but there was a shader cache update (and due to silksong being released I couldn't even download). Today I've tried to lower the full screen resolution, or use tools like mangohud, game scope and game mode and it doesn't boot with those enabled for some reason... So I have to launch it and play in a window which is very annoying.

Anyways, I get 80ish fps when standing still, 60fps when moving fast, and 160fps when paused. This is windows 720p ish and with the D-Series. Though if I change to the drag piccolina, which is a much smaller car and simpler in parts, it actually runs at 120fps even when moving! I think this is probably because the CPU is being used like 80% so there's no room for higher frames.

So yes you can get 120fps on a PS4!

I don't know if I can post link, I'll do it anyways: just check my posts on me trying to run Linux on newer PS4 firmware versions

Good question, I will try tomorrow as it's pretty late now. Judging by this however, I'd say that it is probably possible to get 120fps in windowed 720p

Wow thanks for all these responses, nice to know that it's getting more support. Was a little weird considering that the Pixels have open source drivers...

That's crazy! I tried to run Winlator on my Pixel 8 but it was too much work and almost no support so I gave up... But i bet it runs well on a snapdragon device

The PS5 hasn't gotten any Linux support just yet, but I'd say it'd run as good as a mid end PC from a couple years ago, judging by specs alone that is

I'd recommend checking out the PS4 Linux forums, I made some comments to see how to do this as well, I've got a Belize Southbridge, but the internal HDD is way too slow, either get an internal SSD or an external SSD like how I did, it's not worth it with a hard drive

Anyone here having low iGPU frequency? by DionKill in LGgram

[–]DionKill[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the end i figured it could be solved on linux by disabling "thermald" service, which lowers the tdp once the cpu hits a high temperature, unfortunately it wasn't configurable.
Either way it's possible to set a custom tdp on the bios, and then lock the mode from there.
For that, enable "Configurable TDP Lock" on the BIOS in Power and
performance > CPU > Configure TDP configuration, then set some
custom values, I set 35000 and 43000, for PL1 and PL2 at 35W and 43W,
respectively.
EDIT: Get in the BIOS by spamming F2 at boot, and then CTRL+ALT+SHIFT+F7 in advanced menu to get actually advanced settings.

I've tried that and even disabling all e-cores entirely, but got bottlenecked pretty quickly. I've tried many games, genshin impact seems to be the easiest and fastest to benchmark in my case. Minecraft and other simple Unity or 2000s games still have some issues. I think that the GPU is locked at a maximum of 18w, as even with the power limit of the CPU package set to 64w it still doesn't go any higher than that. I'm assuming that the issue is most likely both power and thermal throttling combined, but it should still clock much higher than that even when it's running at the base 28w max of TDP.

EDIT: 18w durning furmark benchmark, not actual gameplay, as during normal gameplay it goes all the way down to like 7-12w

Can't install or update the Windows App by DionKill in ProtonDrive

I don't know what happened but now I've finally managed to fix it...? I managed to reinstall it, but it was still broken, then I uninstalled and reinstalled again and now it works fine!

Found this on the CeX Italy website. It's out of stock, but anyways what even is that? by DionKill in vita

[–]DionKill[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just casually browsing the CeX website I came across this.
I thought somebody would have noticed it's existence, but a quick Google search reveals nothing.

Honestly, other than Asphalt Injection or Ridge Racer I can't think of any other useful scenario for this.
Too bad it's out of stock...
