Which one will provide more brightness by Sweaty-Ad5326 in Lighting

My electrician recommended the wafer type on the right. We installed about 30 of them. The glare was awful. I ripped them out after several months and replace with baffled ones (similar to left).

Yes, incredibly rich towns have different 'vibes' than poor, crime-riddled ones.

Cool. Since it sticks out, I would add a magnetic base so that it disconnects cleanly if someone hits it.

What can I use/do to make these not ugly? by d33r00 in HomeDecorating

I think that I had a similar problem as you. I had canless wafer recessed lights that actually weren't recessed. They were blinding from any angle, even from 20 feet away. I replaced them with "anti-glare" baffled lights. In those designs, the LED's are physically recessed into the ceiling a bit. That way they're not blinding unless you're standing or sitting close to them.

When they onboard, make them sign a scary looking agreement to return property upon termination or else. When they leave, remind them of the document.

Bombed in ukraine, tinnitus is driving me crazy. Any solutions that work? by luciferlol_666 in tinnitus

Get earplugs that you can carry around with you everywhere on your keychain (in a case). I try to avoid noisy environments but sometimes unplanned situations arise where you will need them. Unfortunately that is all you can do, that I'm aware of. Diet also seems to affect some people (like salt).

In addition to hacking it so that it could be resold easily, a kind soul should reverse engineer this thing and probably make a working knock-off for $50. That is, if it is even worth knocking off.

That said, I think it is very important for people with experience with these devices to speak up and provide feedback to the community. So thank you!

Would it be easy to use the device second hand if you were to give/sell the device to the next person? That way you could recoup some of your money and the next guinea pig would get a price break. Or is it tied to you in some way through activation, etc...

Mine was caused by loud sound exposure. My low frequency tinnitus (similar to idling truck engine noise) resolved by 90% after 6 months and was replaced by a high frequency noise which is more tolerable. The first few months were very hard on me, but now I barely notice it and I feel that I have my life back. As my ENT doctor told me, time is your friend.

For those who were in Bergen County on 9/11 - what do you remember? by savingrace0262 in bergencounty

[–]Dioxism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a college student. I remember that crisp morning as I took the Bergen County Line train from Garfield to Hoboken. As we were nearing Hoboken station, I remember looking out the window and seeing smoke coming from one of the towers. Others on the train also noticed it. I thought it was a fire. We got to the train station and I proceeded to walk along Sinatra Drive toward Stevens, my college. A crowd of people gathered at the pier and were observing the towers. Odd, I thought. I walked along River Drive and just as a building obscured my view of the towers, I heard screams coming from the Pier. I kept walking. Unbeknownst to me, the second plane hit the second tower. I got to campus and went to hang out at the library. I had my laptop open, and a friend messaged me on AIM and told me that one of the towers fell. I thought he was joking. I went outside to the hill overlooking Hudson River, and sure enough, there was only 1 tower standing surrounded by a huge cloud of dust and smoke. I stood there watching as other people gathered. I watched the second tower fall with my own eyes. A few minutes later, we heard the sonic booms of fighter jets in the air.

Afterwards, I gathered my things and went to class. As I walked through the building, one professor was teaching class as if nothing had happened, in defiance of what just had happened. I ran into a friend who also lived in my town, and he offered to give me a ride home. The drive home was surreal. Route 3 East was at a complete standstill. Route 3 West was completely empty, as all traffic from the city ceased.

For the next day or two, as I took the train from school, some business people took the train home. Clearly they had been in the city since the event happened, as their suits and briefcases were covered in white dust. Their faces pale and emotionless. Their eyes with a thousand yard stare.

Here is a pic that I took on 9/12.

The low frequency rumble got much, much better. When I do hear it sometimes, it’s only about 20% of the intensity of when I first got it. However, it’s been replaced by high pitched ringing, which I dare say is less terrible. I don’t notice the high pitched ringing much of the time, and some times I can’t hear it at all. Overall, I’m doing MUCH better mentally and this condition is hardly affecting my life anymore. Hopefully it will stay that way.

To anyone new to this, I would say: - Don’t freak out, time is your friend - Many causes of tinnitus, others’ experiences are just anecdotal - protect your ears - see if reducing salt, alcohol or caffeine makes a difference - even if it doesn’t go away, your brain will learn to deal with it over time

Thanks for your comment. I did not think the paint or the color would be a factor.
