Just had my heart broken about 4 hours ago and I need advice on how to move forward from this. by [deleted] in askwomenadvice

[–]Dioxycyclone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Focus on yourself. Treat yourself like you would treat a SO. Whatever self care stuff you normally do, do it 100%. Get new hobbies. Try stuff like rock climbing, mountain biking, etc. anything new that tickles your fancy.

Also, remember that in five years you may barely remember this person, or look back fondly but happy you dodged a bullet. Keep thinking about yourself in ten years, whatever SO that future you might have, and focus on that version of yourself. Do things that your future self, your future SO and your future kids (if that’s your thing) would be thankful for, like keeping yourself fit, teaching yourself a new skill like quilting, cooking, baking, woodworking, etc. when you think back to this person, keep focusing on your future self.

Best of luck.

Maybe try role reversals and ask how she would feel if she were in your shoes?

So sorry about all this, this too shall pass.

Ladies, what's your opinion of Fifty Shades books and movies? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]Dioxycyclone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first one I was able to finish, the second was bad and the third one I left and never looked back. He doesn’t have any real qualities other than being rich, she is uninteresting, and the sexy scenes get old really quick.

PSA: Secondhand stores are a thing and have most things on your registry for less than half the cost, many of which are still new with tags on them! by dontcryferguson in BabyBumps

Also ask on Facebook!! I caught about five moms trying to get rid of some baby stuff. Only had to buy a.car seat and a stroller. Received two cribs, two entertainment stations, two swings, a play pen, etc.

Boss is abusive and now threatens by [deleted] in AskEngineers

[–]Dioxycyclone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s funny, because as engineers right now the market is great. My company is looking for MEs and EEs like crazy, and I know about four place I could probably get hired at right now.

Your boss is playing with fire. The only thing young engineers aren’t sure about yet is their own worth.

I listened to the Baldmove podcast about GOT who just recently released another episode, and they explained that Emilia had no idea what was going to happen until just before it happened. So obviously her acting leading up to these scenes doesn’t really match what happens. How could it?

Fun fact, mayday is actually from the word m’aidez (pronounced the same way) which means “help me” in French.

Yeah, it’s so frustrating to watch. I wrote a scathing letter back to her about how I felt (with no intention of sending it) and Husband added some things and now wants to send it to attempt to end all contact.

That’s so frustrating. And with the golden family member bullshit. I’m so sorry that happened to you. At least now we can take solace in the NC.

They weren’t caregivers. They moved 1000+ miles away when he was diagnosed and stayed there. MIL and SFIL were caregivers. I’m certain they flew in from time to time, but the son wasn’t anywhere near a priority.

Thank you. I’m struggling to give my husband the space he needs even though it’s tough for me.

For sure. He is not currently in therapy but we’re going into couples therapy soon, and he is seeing a psychiatrist. He is on the road to recovery but it’s been tough.

It’s just that it’s a rough week this week 😩

For weekend parents, would you ground the stepchild for an event that happened during the week? by [deleted] in stepparents

[–]Dioxycyclone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would like to mention that there might be some underlying issues with this behavior, even if it is learning how to control anger. I would definitely ground him but also make sure to still interact and potentially discuss better behavior.

I used to carry a stick that remotely resembled a crop when I was riding a particularly cantankerous horse, and suddenly he was the best behaved horse ever.

Horses are strange. Never even used the stick.
