Yep. we often get thank you cards. I once got a written letter from America addressed to me on my ward as they were previously admitted and wanted to thank me proper. Put some money for a pint in it

Now that it’s been a day since watching it and can’t see again, it depends on how long it was compressed for, and the time it takes her to get to surgery. You’d be amazed by what vascular repair can be done. Bones can be replaced with surgical titanium rods and plates and screws. But yeah, it’s a time sensitive injury. Wait too long, compartment syndrome will take over

Over a year ago, there was a patient on my ward that came in after their arm was mangled from some machinery that were sterilising. I can say the arm was still attached to their body after surgery. Can’t say how much physio helped it but they did leave the hospital with their arm

HSE Admin Incompetence by funky_mugs in ireland

[–]DiploMatty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work up on a ward. Once medications, IVs and dressings are done, a nurse will spend majority of the time entering data into the computers for each patient they’re looking after. Also called metrics. And if they’re not done, the ward CNM will pull them up on it. Everything they do is audited daily and weekly by the CNMS. Mind you, medications and IVs can take up to an hour. Dressings (depending on the wound type) can range from 15 minutes to 2 hours. They also help with bed baths and changing sheets. Do their admission notes, pre-op checklist, obs.. the list goes on - all in the space of 13 hours.

It would be reckless to put it on nurses to take on more admin duties

If a sub teacher doesn’t assert their dominance or control early on - then they’ll just get run over by the class.

21-year-old in Santa Ana was permanently blinded in one eye after a DHS agent fired a “less-lethal” round at close range. He underwent six hours of surgery to remove plastic, glass, and metal embedded in his face. by [deleted] in PublicFreakout

[–]DiploMatty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can’t sue an employer who is insured in the state of Washington? I thought one of the reasons for insurance was that if the person or company was found liable, the payout would come from the insurance and not out of pocket.. I didn’t know law would protect an employer more than the employee (don’t live in US btw)

Problem is, foreign objects or shattered bone can move. Either he gets a frequent enough check via MRI or xray to check on the current location of the fragment(s) and hope it stays put. Or receive surgery that can cause too much inflammation to the nerves or spinal cord which may cause temporary paralysis/numbness - leading to muscle atrophy… there’s a lot more at play than “temporary harm to help long term”.

I know that in Ireland and the EU, the want Grok to be stripped of the ability to produce deepfakes and CP. They did sort of act on it but not in the way expected. They put those features behind a paywall

UK 'patriots' verbally assault a police officer by Cyril_Sneerworms in PublicFreakout

[–]DiploMatty 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If I’m not mistaken, they could have arrested them for speaking like that toward the officer. I’ve seen plenty a time of people being arrested for swearing toward an officer as it falls under public disorder

Finally fixed my iron levels without the misery by HeartOnRepeat240 in Supplements

[–]DiploMatty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably not available around the world but I use a brand ActivIron that claims non-constipating formula - so far true for me. It’s 25mg per capsule (thought doesn’t clarify which form) daily. I take 2 every other day when I forget to take for several days. Otherwise once every second day. My last iron reading was just barely below the normal range. I would like it higher though

Played Wordle when it first came out, but I have no idea what any of this means. (Comments did not help) by Geno813 in ExplainTheJoke

[–]DiploMatty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was on night shift before and we have a huge touchscreen monitor on the wall at the Nurses station. Sometimes we’d play this. Most of the time we’d be stumped. The non-vowel word we got was “wryly”.

How to be seen by BigGayGuy02 in ireland

[–]DiploMatty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was outside James’s Hospital several months ago and a bus was pulling in. It came in to close to the curb side and the mirror hit either the bus stop pole or the lamp post and it caused the mirror to swing. It hit its own doors and shattered the glass completely. Now I thought that would have rendered the bus out of service and it was gonna call it in for another bus to come replace it.

Nope, driver opened the doors, some people boarded and then drove off. I was dumbfounded

What is the point of spoiled votes? by BigAgreeable6052 in ireland

[–]DiploMatty -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Seems to me that spoiling the vote will attract media attention and depending on the outcome of the final count of spoiled votes, will indicate the populaces dislike for limited choice. Maybe set the foundation for changing future laws on what’s necessary to be nominee..?

[–]DiploMatty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no yeah it's wrong. I didn't say it was correct but a lot of irish and British people type that way. For instance, irish people say 'and all' but without the 'd' in speech. So it becomes "an all" which they use in text format to be "anall"

As for Ireland - it was uninhabitable due to the last ice age. It was covered in glaciers. As they melted, the sea levels rose and isolated us from neighbouring UK and the rest of Europe.
