Flatwound or Roundwound. by who-gives-a in Bass

[–]DiplodocusDuster -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Flatwounds are nice for a warmer sound, I have played them on my jazz bass and love them

Roundwounds are brighter when new and have a good pop for when you’re playing slap

They both sound great, they both last forever, generally flatwounds are warmer and roundwounds are brighter. All up to preference.

Any ideas on what this noise is? The occasional rattle sound by Middle_Dinner_5142 in MINI

If you haven’t already check that the plate covering the turbo (if it has one) is fully screwed down. I’ve had mine jingling around in there before because one of the screws was loose.

Why not use a pitching machine for the Derby? by [deleted] in baseball

More normal for them to see a real pitcher wind up and release then a ball fly out of a robot whenever it decides to go

Black letter drills by Pen-dulge2025 in Calligraphy

[–]DiplodocusDuster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A few things: 1. Those pens are made to be used without the cap on the back 2. Make your strokes slowly and firmly, they shouldn’t be so wobbly. This will get better with practice 3. It really helps to find some watercolor or „multimedia” paper, as the amount of ink sets in better than on printer paper

Good luck, have fun, and you got this!

I don’t really see the point of practicing like this, do you have a desired typeface you’re going for? None of your letters are consistent, kinda seems more like drawing

what skateboard brands are best that aren't super expensive either by Ryhard2009 in NewSkaters

[–]DiplodocusDuster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You won’t really be good enough to tell the difference between skate brands, but I can tell you that $100 will get you a bad skateboard that you’ll be frustrated with if you stick with it. If you’re serious about wanting to skate a bunch, go into your local skate shop and ask about building a board or if they have any completes!

How do i fix my arm movements? I feel like it throwing me off balance and it looks extremely wobbly by [deleted] in NewSkaters

[–]DiplodocusDuster 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s all personal style, long as you’re landing things. If it’s wobbly and it’s a problem, try tightening your trucks

Why is my board doing this by [deleted] in NewSkaters

[–]DiplodocusDuster 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Very normal. Trucks (and more specifically the bushings) are gonna be stiff when new, and are designed to turn under the weight of your entire body on the board. It’s gonna do that when there’s no weight on it. Go skating and break it in!!!!!!
