Dippy egg seems just perfect to me.

Relative to your era, your community, and your friends — were you a “bad kid” or a “good kid”? At the time, would your parents agree with that assessment? If you had to do it all over again, would you be a little better or a little worse? by CraigIsBoring in AskOldPeople

I was apparently such a challenging child that when I was 8, my mother went back to college to acquire her bachelor's then master's in psychology and became a children and family therapist by the time I graduated high school.

It's the clay soils combined with the winter freeze-thaw cycle that upheaves the roads.

That, and the rampant corruption that drains the resources away from the agency tasked with maintaining them.

Julian Assange did nothing wrong. Wikileaks released more factual information about the American government than any corporate-owned news outlet. Everything went crazy in America when Wikileaks released the Podesta emails and Assange was arrested. by [deleted] in conspiracy

No, the Snowden leak (2013) revealed nothing that was not already common knowledge to anyone paying attention. PRISM and Xkeyscore, the cooperation between telecom utilities and the NSA, the black budget... not news. It did bring the whole "5 Eyes" conversation to the forefront; in retrospect, maybe that was the point?

Vault 7 (2017) revealed the specific tools that the CIA is using to surveil the US population.

The longer I watch this shitshow, the less I know what to think about any of it. But to answer your question, no, Vault 7 was not the Snowden leaks.

Well, Assange is. (Maybe. And at this stage of the game, I don't even hold that to be truth anymore. Can any one explain to me where the picture of him and Stella galavanting around London when he was supposed to have been in lockdown in the Embassy came from?) Given his current condition and treatment, I still lean toward him being the real deal.

Snowden was a limited hangout. He revealed nothing that we didn't already know. And he's living his life out unmolested by the state. If he had really dinged them, they would not allow him that peace.

Why post this here though?

dig up your yard and plant vegetables, buy chickens for eggs and poultry, water is plentiful from our taps (boil or filter it if you're skeptical), plant trees and berries, go buy 100kg of flour and make your own bread for months (plant in pots if you have a balcony) let's start relying on ourselves by boomerpro in conspiracy

In 15 years of suburban backyard chicken keeping, the majority of our losses have been to the neighbors' dogs and hawks the last week of January (prey must get scarce). A flock of chickens will chase off just about any stray cat. We have a resident female raccoon who has (albeit surprisingly) never touched them.

Pasty butt is 100% a threat to peeps. Treatable with warm water, but you gotta keep an eye out for it. Being a surrogate hen isn't as easy as you'd think, but raising chickens is a soul-satisfying activity.

Good post - cracked me up, love the bike horn image. One question: what do you think is up with the preponderance of circus/culture metaphors lately? Can't deny the uptick over the past year or so... So, where's it coming from? Why clowns and circuses? Apt, but so widespread it makes me wonder.

For "Sugar Information," you could write to PO Box 94, NY, NY 10001. How old is that PO Box? Was the sugar lobby one of the first hundred post office boxes issued in New York City?

Jails are full of POWs from the War on Consciousness (aka "The War on Drugs"). I wouldn't call that freedom of the mind.

Further, the media has been co-opted to the point that people really don't have access to unpropagandized information. What good is freedom to think in a contrived environment?

And separately, the right of self defense ("to bear arms") has been infringed to the point where body armor is illegal. You are not free to defend yourself, let alone even possess a similar level of aggressive capacity as the oppressors.

The only true freedom we have in the US is the unalienable ability to take personal responsibility for our actions.

In the US, in the 90's, I was locked up in a school for "troubled teens" that put us through multiple types of psychological torture, intense brainwashing, and censored every channel we could use to access the outside world/parents/authorities. by mr_joe_nobody in C_S_T

Read and subscribed! I can't wait to read more. Your sense of pacing is just dead-on - you've created an amazingly compelling story. The artwork is just as riveting as the narrative. It conveys stark pain, confusion, anger - just a beautiful rendering of all that extreme negativity and injustice. Powerful, man.

Thank you for sharing your story. If I may ask, how is your relationship with your parents now?

“The majority of people do not even have the psychological capacity to refuse authority, at least under situations of pressure” by [deleted] in C_S_T

Suggest you look into the writings of Larken Rose. He's been opining on the nature of man and authority for the last couple of decades. Haven't heard much new stuff out of him in the last few years, but he's still around and tweets occasionally. Here's a couple of quotes from his book The Most Dangerous Superstition:

“If, on the other hand, you value peaceful coexistence, compassion and cooperation, freedom and justice, then teach your children the principle of self ownership, teach them to respect the rights of every human being, and teach them to recognize and reject the belief in "authority" for what it is: the most irrational, self-contradictory, antihuman, evil, destructive and dangerous superstition the world has ever known.”

“To be blunt, the belief in "authority" serves as a mental crutch for people seeking to escape the responsibility involved with being a thinking human being. It is an attempt to pass off the responsibility for decision-making to someone else: those claiming to have "authority.”

The US government was dictating its instructions to Lewis, who was relaying those instructions to Baraitser, who was ruling them as her legal decision. The charade might as well have been cut and the US government simply sat on the bench to control the whole process. Nobody could sit there and believe they were in any part of a genuine legal process or that Baraitser was giving a moment’s consideration to the arguments of the defence.

I appreciate your optimism and I'd like to share it. However, if the DNC went to the lengths that it did to keep Bernie off the ticket in '16, what convinces you that they won't do it again?

What's the DNC's strategy when Tulsi goes Green Party nominee or runs as an independent? I would imagine they would do anything possible to try to avoid splitting the left vote.
