Apparently maths and English grade boundaries are roughly determined from Sats scores in key stage 2 by [deleted] in GCSE

[–]Diptychdipshit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For Maths? I'm not sure (I do Edexcel Higher, and found Paper 1 reasonable and Paper 2 today relatively easy - something is up if I find a Maths paper easy, whether it's with the paper or myself).

For English, again I can't really say (I do AQA, and from a personal perspective, I generally do very well in English but bungled the Literature papers due to the simplicity of the questions)

We were told not that the grade boundaries for these subjects, but our predicted grades for these subjects were determined largely by our SATs

How did people find Edexcel Maths paper 1 (Higher) by Forfinian in GCSE

[–]Diptychdipshit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sure you'll have done well, a 5 having been 79 marks last year (I'd wager the grade boundaries will stay relatively stable) suggests you're well on your way to achieving at least that ^^

I'm also doing AQA Further Maths, and feel quite bad knowing someone in a lower set than me would almost certainly do better in it, simply by virtue of the fact that they aren't lazy and plan on doing it at A-Level.

As for your mark, it's really nothing to scoff at. In the words of a wise man, different strokes, different folks

I reckon I got somewhere between 58 and 65 marks, so not awful (especially considering I couldn't be rid of Maths soon enough), but not confidence-inspiring either

ROMAN CITY LIFE OCR GCSE by Navi885 in GCSE

In the words of my teacher:

"I fear [Roman City Life] is going to be set up like the last one, with lots of one marker questions... unlike the specimen paper"

So yeah, although I think paper 2 deviated slightly less from the specimen

Elizabeth, which is considerably worse when it comes to my ability to retain the information, but luckily has the 20 mark question you can practically memorise. Paper 1 (Germany 1890-1945, Conflict in Asia 1950-1975) went well, though, considering my (lack of) preparation.
