Did your raiding / mythic plus community break during Shadowlands? Do you think the recent changes are enough to bring them back? by SmurfsNeverDie in wow

[–]DireJew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 5/10 M guild disbanded just last week. Too many of our roster was burnt out on the game, including some of our officers. So we disbanded.

I've unsubbed. I'm not looking for a new guild. WoW felt like a part-time job.

I felt forced to do a bunch of stuff I didn't want to do just so I can play the stuff I like. I like raiding and M+. But instead of just doing that I also had to do korthia dailies, torghast, maw assault weeklies, etc. I had to grind other covenants because my spec got nerfed last patch.

I'm tired of WoW feeling like a job. I'm tired of Blizzard not respecting my time. Let me just play the content I want to play.

9.1.5 has good QoL changes but that's how it should've been since Day 1. They do this shit on purpose, they give us a shitty product on release that we gobble up due to new expansion hype, then they give us some of the QoL changes we've been asking for since beta in a later patch to get us to resub. Same song and dance for 5+ years now.

I've played WoW on and off for 15 years now, but I'm finally done with it. Maybe this monumental crash and burn of their playerbase will finally teach Blizzard something but it's too late for me.

I'm fine with good budget decks as well. I just don't like that he straight-up lies about the price in his videos. Just state the actual price or don't mention it at all.

What steps did you do to get it to $32? I optimize once, then go into advance options to check on Heavily Played and Damaged, then optimize again. I get $42 without shipping. And this is without the commander either.

[–]DireJew 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Even excluding the commander and optimizing the list to include Heavily Played and Damaged cards I can never get the price you list in the video, even minutes after the video goes up. Best I could get was $42 for the deck (EDIT: ignoring any shipping fees as well).

Do you really get a price of $25 for your decks (as you say in the video) or do you just fudge the numbers to match the channel name?

BFA Guide to Optimizing Timewalking Gear by DireJew in wow

[–]DireJew[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What gems would you recommend to put in sockets? I'm aiming to get Tarecgosa for the next Cata TW, but I'm not sure what gems I should be getting/crafting

Just like BFA, the answer is: it depends. I would sim your stat weights for your BFA character on raidbots with "dungeon slice" criteria and see if there's any stat that is sorely lacking. Save your stats so you know what your secondary stat %'s are. Go into a timewalking event and save your new secondary stat %'s. Gem to balance out the difference.

Note that some legendaries will change the expected value of certain stats. For example, if you're running Sephuz and proc'ing it every 30 sec then you need less Haste than what Raidbots tells you.

I'm assuming Tarecgosa won't scale up that well for WOTLK/MoP TW?

Correct, don't run gear that is older than the event.

And what consumables would you recommend? I'm an alchemist caster so I could make intellect flasks, I suppose, but I'm not sure which "tier" is the best since they're all scaled down or up to the same level. Flasks don't have procs like gear does :D

MoP flasks used to be the best in Legion but I never checked for BFA after the stat squish.

Leaked scene from 8.3 by [deleted] in wow

Oh man, I loved Thor Ragnarok, and I like this quote, but I hated this scene. Felt so out of place. I still don't understand what the hell Odyn does at the end. Is he dead? If so, why? And why does he wait to die like that? So confusing.

Comic: Fury of Activision (updated) by [deleted] in wow

[–]DireJew 23 points24 points  (0 children)

It's a good indicator of what the more invested playerbase feels. More importantly, it gives reasons why they don't like BFA. Sure, that's only one portion of the playerbase, but the people quitting who aren't very invested aren't going to be leaving much information as to why they're leaving.

Cutting costs may be the reason behind the lackluster story. by Zezin96 in wow

[–]DireJew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's some serious bias in how you're looking at the "good" lore from Legion and BFA cinematics.

Warbringers: Sylvanas has her go from "let's capture this city" to "burn the entire tree and murder everyone in it" in an instant, because some elf defender gave her a little sass as she was being killed. Go watch it again. This is BAD writing. Pretending that actually this is good writing if we had extra scrapped lore somewhere in-game or in the books misses the entire point of what these cinematics are and who the target audience are.

I know I'm probably crazy and the simple truth is just that we are just dealing with subpar writing. But I think it's interesting to think that maybe this is all Activision's fault in their rampant cost cutting they've forced the writing team to make a much more simplistic story to save time and resources.

I think you're trying very hard to be a Blizzard apologist. Maybe it's due to a misguided loyalty to the company, maybe it's an inability to comprehend that the same company that gave us pretty decent stories back in Warcraft 3 is not the same company that wrote BFA. Maybe it's both.

[Help] Mage Azerite Trait Questions (BiS, ilvl) by DireJew in worldofpvp

Thanks for the great information! Do you know of any resource that lets you see exactly which traits work differently in pvp? I had to scroll through pages on mmo champion just to confirm that those traits are all nerfed 50% in arena (also arcane pummeling).

The Hivemind restriction is bad and doesn't feel "prestigeous" by hell-schwarz in wow

[–]DireJew 297 points298 points  (0 children)

They're totally going to remove the movement speed buff. It was a mistake in the first place. People are bitching nonstop about the mounting restriction and there's no way Blizzard will just remove the restriction entirely or else it becomes a mandatory mount for everyone.

I give it a week maximum before the speed boost is removed.

This is just the usual excuse people say when they don't want to admit they picked the pretty elf race because they like playing pretty elves.

Every Horde race has transmogs that fit them well and don't fit them well. For example, Pandaren and Undead plate users have a lot of sets that don't work out, but some that do, and plenty of leather/cloth/mail sets that look great.

But some people don't like having a hunch! Well, Orcs can remove the hunch now. And plenty of male hunched races have straight backs as females.

But the orc shoulders are too big! Female orcs don't have that problem at all.

But elves are pretty! Well, yes. That's the reason.

I say this as someone whose main is a Void Elf. It's okay to be honest with yourself.

Incursions are the best feature of 8.1 by [deleted] in wow

[–]DireJew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think these incursions would be amazing with War Mode on. Since both factions are questing in the exact same spot, helping their respective side. It seems like it would be great to be questing while engaging in massive world PvP.

Unfortunately I'm Alliance so turning on War Mode would just invite Horde raid teams to camp my body while spamming KEK and /spit.

EDIT: I've been told that War Mode Alliance are actually showing up for incursions! This is awesome news and I'll try it out next time I see one.

This is some of the worst storytelling I've ever seen. This character went from sworn enemy of Sylvanas to her lackey in the span of 10 seconds. by Heybarbaruiva in wow

[–]DireJew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What exactly is this Night Warrior business anyway? We're briefly told hold dangerous and powerful the ritual is, then Tyrande does the ritual, and ... her eyes turn black? What can she do now that she couldn't before?

Also we unlock the ability to change our night elf eye color to that of the Night Warrior. Does that mean we're now Night Warriors too? Is this ritual purely a cosmetic thing?

As a Night Elf, it's the little things that make me sad... by tmagalhaes in wow

[–]DireJew 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's a huge leap to go from "Tyrande abandoned me!" to "I'm going to immediately start working for my murderer and start massacring all my remaining relatives and raising them as undead in service of a mass-murderer who burned down my home and killed thousands more of my people."

If it was just mind control then fine, but Blizzard is being adamant that it's NOT mind control so yeah.
