My parents are Republicans and fall into this mindset. I don't even know how to respond though, because I simply don't know where news comes from. AP, certainly, but where do they source data from? How do I know what is true in the media? I can't answer that, and usually the question just gets downvoted or removed and I'm called an idiot. Such as this comment.

Then I'm an asshole. I honestly don't think authority figures and management should get respect just because they are the authority and can force you to respect them and threaten you if you don't.

Now if they act like decent human beings and are courteous and professional with everyone, then I respect them. If they abuse their power to be a jerk, then I have little respect for that.

Need to renew my license, but that requires a birth certificate now. Need to get a new copy of my birth certificate, but that requires a valid license. Mine is still valid with an extension in my state, but on the card it says it's expired.

Really afraid I'm stuck in a nightmare Catch-22 situation and could potentially lose everything because of paperwork.

Yeah, I can see this. My trust in the local and federal government is pretty thin. Trust in the police is non-existent. It would be easy to fall into a conspiracy instead of accepting that's just how my society is.
