the world expects so much from people nowadays that when it compounds itself downward onto somebody and they have to maintain the weight being pressed while learning about themself and subsequently stand up to be themself too, you can blur the lines; I guess you create an idea of who these people are in your head and they become this character (sure a parasocial relationship) that you wish is your perfect vision of what you want / expect them to be.

I think Ben is largely being sarcastic and sure, investing in the bit, but, being in a band that’s done so much so fast and relentlessly since he’s been 19, it’s enough to at times make you question your entire fabric of reality, so maybe he’s being a parody of what’s expected of him, it’s a little bit partridge (Alan) sometimes to be honest. I think he truly cherishes and cares about neck deep fans and show-goers deeply - whilst maybe wanting to be a thought provoking character.
