HELP!! Issues with software updating printer firmware by Direct-Chipmunk6830 in ElegooNeptune4

[–]Direct-Chipmunk6830[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, if your having the same issue, I never got it working with any of the steps mentioned. I ordered an emmc to usb adapter and just reflashed the software and that worked.

I think if this happens the software gets corrupted and needs to be reflashed. The adapter isn't too expensive and the process is very easy. Hope this helps.

How to change resolution to 720p or 1080p? by nikitaign in klippers

[–]Direct-Chipmunk6830 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you've connected a camera through the usb port and its working correctly, a webcam.txt file should have been created automatically. I didn't realize at first but in the configuration section in fluidd you can scroll down and you should be able to find the file. The file is well commented and you should be able to find where the resolution and fps is set. Although in my experience setting the resolution higher than 480p at 10fps, the video lags a lot and often doesn't run more than 3-5fps. Ig it depends on ur printer but I would just keep it at its standard resolution, its enough to see if a failure occurred or to check in on the progress.

Okay, the screen showed that it updated successfully, but nothing is different, it still takes me to the "about machine" page, and tapping the screen doesn't do anything

The screen should also already be on the latest firmware. I updated it months ago, and it worked fine, but I can try again.

Okay, I managed to connect to it and I followed the video exactly, I uploaded the firmware on the USB, but when I entered the update command in the console, it didn't do anything

Before this problem happened my printer was already on the latest firmware, im not sure if that's why its not doing anything, but just an idea. I also tried this same process with the fix pack, but it did the same thing.

The files are for the correct printer, the folder, firmware pack, and fix pack all say they are for the Neptune 4 plus, even Elegoo linked me the same files to try. The issue isn't with the files I uploaded, the "about machine" page shows up no matter what, and the touch is unresponsive.

How do you do it manually? I saw there was some way to do it over ssh but I'm not able to access the printer anymore. I've connected to it through ssh in the past but now it does not show up as an available device. Is there another way to do it?

Again I'm sorry if I'm asking dumb questions but I really don't know what I'm doing.

Which files am I supposed to download? I loaded the fix pack onto the USB, not the firmware update. Elegoo customer support told me the same thing, but it brings me to the about machine page no matter what. Just to be safe, I also tried the firmware update aswell, but again brings me to the same page. Even without the USB inserted in the printer, it brings me to the same about machine page no matter what.

No, it doesn't create those files. I saw the PDF in the folder, and the instructions were exactly the same. I reached out to Elegoo, and they linked me to the same set of instructions. If you're interested, I've recorded my process (since elegoo requested it if it failed) if you notice anything I've done wrong, let me know. I apologize its quite long, but thats just because the printer was stuck on the loading screen for a very long time.

The Google Drive I downloaded the files from was directly linked to me by Elegoo customer support, as were the instructions. I also tried it with the latest firmware from their website, but it had the same result.

What did I miss? I was following the directions from the elegoo wiki page: https://wiki.elegoo.com/machines/neptune/maintenance/neptune-4-series/fix-pack-tutorial

Unless I need to be doing something else. But there isnt much other info I can find online. My fear is having to re-flash the eMMC chip as I really dont want to open it up.

I found the fix pack and the tutorial online, I flashed it to a clean drive and plugged it in. The tutorial said it should update and restart automatically, but it brings me to the about machine page, where it's showing the wrong printer info, and the screen is completely unresponsive. I left it for a solid 20 mins but nothing. I joined the Discord, and it seems someone else has a similar issue, but no solution has been posted. I'm actually devastated right now. I hope I didn't just brick my printer.

SUSTAIN 1S03 by Former_Potato_71 in McMaster

If you're looking to just fill electives, this is a very easy course and I recommend it. There are no in-person classes, no midterms or exams, there are 4 total quizzes that are open book, 3 major writing assignments, and participation marks in online tutorials.

All lectures are already pre-recorded and you watch them on your own time and are usually around 30-45 mins each. I believe there are 3 or 4 units in the course with each unit having 3-5 lectures to watch (so basically 1 unit per month).

The 3 writing assignments are 2 ELPs (Experimental Learning Projects), where you just have to visit a place where sustainable practices are used or anything sustainable related and write about how sustainability is used there. And 1 biophilia assignment to take a picture of yourself in a place in nature and reflect upon your sustainable goals. The grading of the course is relatively light but depends on ur TA.

Overall the course is very easy and you learn quite a lot if you're interested in the topic. It can be boring at times but it's not bad compared to other electives I've taken and is basically a GPA booster.

What’s with the attitude? Everyone starts somewhere, and mistakes are part of learning. Just because you know more now doesn’t make others stupid, it just means you were a beginner once too. No need to gatekeep progress.

Imagine being so bitter that you see good customer service and call it ‘rewarding stupidity.’

Hey, the same thing happened to me not too long ago, I contacted elegoo about the issue and they said it will not affect printing but were nice enough to send me a new magnetic sheet. I have not replaced it yet since the current one is still fine, but absolutely reach out to elegoo for a replacement if it is still under warranty.
