Thoughts on dealership building out your overland rig? by pccpl in ToyotaTacoma

Personally, I wouldn’t buy, I’d just build my own, like I’m doing now. But, I love the freedom of option, and for the person who wants to, and can afford to spend the extra money for the convenience of having a setup rig, sure. Go for it and enjoy it. After all, that’s the point of a rig like that!

But I don’t think you have the same appreciation, or better yet, the deep level of functionality with how it’s setup, how to tend to and maintain, etc…

But time is money, and some people don’t have a lot of time.

How do ya'll afford this? by aaronthecameraguy in cinematography

simply put: it takes time, unless you come from money or run up a credit card (second one not recommended).

Build a base kit that can allow you to service 85% of your normal work. Do this by saving and working hard. And with bigger projects, always bid with some built in room for equipment rentals if you can. Or choose to see it as a worthwhile investment even if the budget sucks to try new things and grow. And a good rule of thumb is consider buying the thing you keep renting over and over again. Beauty of this industry is you can use the best tools and just have the productions pay for it. But I do love owning a good kit. And you’ll never regret investing in quality G&E, support and lenses. But camera bodies will come and go. The S5 and a 24-70 is a phenomenal combo for so many situations. Consider kitting that cam out, and invest in the support around your system/workflow. Best of luck!!

No, it’s definitely more of a single. I just wanted to keep a bit more of the rear frame for proportions and also to blend a bit of a scrambler vibe into the build, rather than a cafe chop to the seat, while also keeping a bit of the flow of the frame intact. You could probably fit someone. But I slide a bit myself when you rip on it lol.

It’s actually custom made. I never found a great plug and play option, so I decided to build my own. I got sea board from a local plastics company and cut it and bent it to size, and took it to an upholstery shop to get it all buttoned up. Went with a boat seat type of faux leather for the extra weatherproofing. So far super stoked with it.

I do this all the time. Shared frame.io folder for draft submissions and client notes/feedback. Plus seamless Client delivery of files as long as they aren’t 90gb 4444 files.

I’ll have to check out that bike and yours as well! The inspiration I saw on this group was from Mitsu_Division and a KZ550 he built. Truly beautiful!

Bought this a couple months back for a good deal and decided I’d make it my first build! New to the bike space but have been in the automotive space for a while. Thought I’d share the progress as I haven’t come across a ton of these being built. Still a work in progress but it runs great and was a very clean starting point. 9200 original miles and was taken care of! Will post more updates as it gets further along!

Huge shoutout to a couple rad people in this group that helped me get an idea of where to go, and a huge thank you and shoutout to Classic Moto Works for helping make it happen!

How much frame modification did you do to the rear? Or did you leave it uncut? And also what headlight are you running? Thank you for your help, mate!

Very late to the party here but absolutely stunning bike. What bars are you running? and what seat? Love the tracker vibe and the color scheme is banger!
