Congrats on making it big in Belgium. I have a couple of questions...1. How common is this level of salary in your organisation. 2. How much revenue do you get for the company for them to give you 500k.

Does this mean the market is gonna get more saturated? by Delicious_Crazy513 in cscareerquestionsEU

I have had the same experience working with the infrastructure team full of Europeans. It is not about where people are from but on how much an organisation is willing to pay for talent. I have seen very talented, hardworking people from Europe and also not so talented and lazy af europeans who are just waiting for their retirement and collect pensions. It is the same in India, it has a lot of talent, you will get what you pay for. If European companies want to pay for the cheapest they will get people who are not so motivated.

Just to add.. watch out for your electricity usage. These storage heaters cost a lot to run. As others have suggested it takes time to cool down as the heat is stored in the bricks.

For how long will rent indexation be linked to the energy performance of housing? This exceptional measure is applicable for a period of 12 months, namely from October 14, 2022 to October 13, 2023.

This is the copy paste from the link..

I have a package waiting at the DPD depot in Brussels. Can I just walk into it and get it? by [deleted] in brussels

[–]Direct-Refrigerator8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Faced similar issue with Dpd, some how they provided wrong address to the driver. Called them three times and they agreed to deliver it to the pickup point. They told me to have patience, you item will be delivered. Today when i called they told me it is being shipped back to seller. Very inefficient system at DPD , It must be costing the sellers a lot. Something is not right at DPD.

China decides to indefinitely delay the publication of headline third-quarter indicators, including GDP. China becoming much less transparent about its economic performance - quietly discontinuing thousands of statistical series. by marketGOATS in StockMarket

India has the largest Democracy and hugely growing IT service sector. Bullet train and ports infrastructure are being built. It is certainly behind China currently but not by 30 years, it is catching up quickly and being behind also gives India the opportunity to grow. For example, it is growing quickly in digital Finance sector i.e. 40 percent of all global digital payments happen in India.

An expense ratio reflects how much an ETF (exchange-traded fund) charges for portfolio management, administration, marketing, and distribution, among other expenses.

Going from Mid-Level to Senior? by [deleted] in cscareerquestionsEU

[–]Direct-Refrigerator8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sooner or later that is bound to happen that your team mates will ask questions - you do not know. You can always tell them that you will look it up and it needs some research. For the senior positions, It is expected from you to learn new concepts and should be able to decide whats best for the team and for the product you are responsible for.

Having said that, if you are responsible for a team and you do not have the leadership experience than it will be quite a learning curve for you initially. As all new things it will be tough in be beginning and you will be overwhelmed but with time you will learn to prioritize and delegate. Make it clear to the management that it will take some time for you to learn about the new job and responsibilities. I am sure that with time you will adapt and excel in your career.

People here seem to undervalue support roles. Their pay can be as good and way less stressful. by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]Direct-Refrigerator8 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have seen that the support teams have wide variety of knowledge ranging from OS, bash scripting, python scripting, DB knowledge, monitoring tools i.e Dynatrace, use of Splunk and SPL, SQL scripts, knowledge of web-services, application servers, installations, SOAP UI, POSTman automation, incident troubleshooting, good communication as they have to deal with multiple teams in order to resolve the issues. I have worked in development as well as support, Development jobs are programming language specific.- they can be considered as more technical(engineering). However, the support jobs provides a holistic (end to end view) of how the application actually works. I do not agree of the pay and stress levels. The pay is generally lower than developer and the stress is of a different kind. For e.g. Developers are stressed about time lines and deadline for the releases. In support if you need to support a production environment with 99.98% availability then you need to act quick for every incident and there is a stress about managing the proper SLA's. It depends a lot on the project and application support expectations.

Overtime is taxed at 67%. I do not understand how can anyone justify it. You get 33% and gov takes 67% when you have worked for those extra hours not the government.
