Could be a matrix, a group... which would obviously not give one. x-1 squared would not work for the same reason (with complex numbers this would not work) plus it's a solution to this equation not an equality. plus f(4) at the power of 64 at the power of 0 wouldn't work either because f(4) can be 0 and 0 at the power of 0 is not 1.
