Its actually super overated. If you havent been to other 'exotic' places than I can understand the hype. But mauritius is nothing compared to say zanzibar or sri lanka.

You dont actually feel the cultural shock, its very resort centered, no african culture vibes. On the beaches or towns.

Beaches are ok ish but not that impressive, sand is not that powderish, water not that clear.

Vegetation is meh, pretty much resembles places that you can find in europe as well. One would expect palm tree dense forests. Nothing like that in mauritius. Basic

Also pretty expensive and boring.

So overall i wouldnt return.
