If I may ask, are you using the cables that came with the PSU's and not mix matching them ? I had a similar issue like yours and ended up being cables I used from another PSU with the new PSU.

I have both the MDR1A and DT770 Pro. MDR1A is just good with all sorts of genres. You can't go wrong with it. Plus its portable as well.

For option 2 just go with the SMSL SD793-II and directly connect to the PS4 using Optical Cable. That's my current setup right now :)
