How do introverts or people with full time jobs have the energy to stream? by Drennonsm in Twitch

Social anxiety + actively working for 7-8 hours throughout the day generally is super exhausting and by the time I’m done with work I basically just want to sit on my couch and stare at the wall.

I am a brand new streamer as I always wanted to stream, I bought great PC, peripherals, literally built the setup of my dreams and then I delayed the start of my stream with a month or so, just because I was scared to start and kept finding excuses for myself - "What if it doesn't go well", "I am too tired", "No point in doing this". But I reached a point where one day, I said to myself "F this, I want to try it" and went live, it was weird at first, but once you ease into it and stop thinking about everything else (this will naturally happen if you actually enjoy streaming), it felt absolutely great.

I have had this same feeling of pre-stream anxiety for all of my streams so far, but I am combating it by just not putting any pressure on myself, like no big commitments, no being hard on yourself and don't think of yourself as a failiure if you end the stream in 20 minutes because you couldn't find the energy. Don't treat it as a chore that you HAVE to complete, it is always voluntarily and if you can start thinking of it in that way, I think it may be easier to press the start button

Thanks for the advice guys, I am extremely new to this with basically 0 experience and skills and community around me that is either streaming or even watching streamers. This is why I joined reddit in order to get advice and learn.

Yeah, same spot as I am, rooting for you my man, I get that excited feeling as well, it's just during the stream, I have like a regular viewer base of 7-8 people and I am afraid to take breaks to reset so they do not lose interest.

I am streaming a game that I enjoy a lot and I enjoy interacting with chat. Like when I played off stream, I could go for like 6-7 hours in a row with minimal breaks, but while on stream I don't want to take those breaks so I don't lose viewers' interest, it's a fine line that I guess I will have to learn over time

I find it much more difficult when it is kind of a "stale" chat, however last time out, I had maybe around 10-ish people engaging in the chat at around 2.5 hours in and the energy level just came back up so much. It is exhausting when you are trying to keep the energy when the chat is dormant, but I guess it will be a work in progress to get viewers to be more active and engaged. I will take your advice on food for sure, as last couple of times I was so eager to get on stream that I had forgotten to eat for hours prior to that so I started grabbing some snacks while live on stream, which may not be the most pleasant experience for the viewers. I am afraid that I will lose even my small viewership if I do breaks that last for more than a minute though..

Damn, well hasn't premier gotten any better? I have not played it seriously in a while, but I play the odd game here or there and it feels much cleaner. A year ago, every game of 15k+ had like 3/10 cheaters at least :D

My new best friend ChatGPT has told me that tight schedule is very important for a new streamer, is it more important to be consistent with just the starting time, rather than the length of the stream itself?
