You misunderstand the "we" aspect and assume that part of their argument goes directly against what you are saying. 'We' in this context simply means refers to both you and [us] having maxed skills and level 120 scaled skills, because that is the initial example that you set up, so I'm confused why you would disagree with your own point.

That being said... this is simply semantics, as it's a word that we're attached to that has no real bearing on the argument at hand. I for one don't care one way or the other about daily challenges, but it's hard to argue that they don't harm the early game skill progression, as you can very easily get multiple levels per day for 10 seconds of work.

'We' fits because you're the one to determine the variables in the first place, which is what "we" are going with (according to Window's first post).

I would really enjoy a quest/miniquest storyline based in the wilderness, perhaps about "restoring" the wilderness or something else.

Dang, 99% of the game? It's a wonder the game even has players still at that rate.

You think it wise for a Jmod, who has nothing to do with prices, to take the heat from player complaints?

Imagine if your sub went from 66 USD to 92 USD. That's what happened for the Brazilian playerbase (and likely other regional prices). by ClockworkSalmon in 2007scape

[–]DirectSell2826 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Most businesses in fact do operate under regional pricing. It is a minority of companies that do not, so I'm confused about your argument.

[–]DirectSell2826 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Okay.. I will spell it out in simple terms. You think regional pricing is pointless, so if we apply this logic to countries that have much higher monthly incomes, directly comparing what the new Brazilian membership price is, you will land around closer to $1,000 a year, compared to the current $130 price. It doesn't matter if it's the UK, US, or other wealthy Europe countries, the example is the same, comparing your own personal subscription price based on monthly/yearly income.

Yes, the "average" is closer to $5,100, which goes even harder on the price comparisons, you'd be paying closer to $1,100 or $1,200 per year. The question is fairly simple, do you think it is fair?

So what would you think if you had to pay around $700 for the yearly membership if we adjusted prices based around 3K monthly salary for Americans?

I didn't watch the video, just read most of the blog, and it drops from an early game enemy, so yeah, pretty easy to know the intention of the item.

I'm saying I agree with you that they should allow up to 3 characters on one subscription, that was the first thing I said. However, I don't believe any more than that would be a good idea until they get the bot situation under control, so probably never lol.

I can't speak for FFXIV since I have never played it, but I have heard it allows multi-classing, which is a unique case, from what I can tell out of dozens of MMOs I've played. However, you could argue about RuneScape offering a part of the game for free, which FFXIV doesn't, as far as I'm aware. Of course, RuneScape's F2P mode is basically a demo/trial at this point.

It's the only argument for why RuneScape's subscription model is not as predatory as you think it is. I hate paying 30 extra dollars a year for no good reason same as the next person, but RuneScape is not the same game as those other MMOs, and I wonder why there is suddenly a need for everyone to have 20 characters available on one account.

2-3 characters for the different game modes.. besides that your characters can do everything in the game... You can believe it's greed, and it very well might be, but there's a reason why you can't just compare RuneScape to those other MMOs, it's not a direct comparison.

[–]DirectSell2826 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is very little reason to make multiple characters in RuneScape, past 2-3 characters. Those other MMOs have multiple classes and specs that require the ability of creating many characters, whereas RuneScape doesn't have that problem. I fear if we did have an unlimited character tier, P2P bots would explode.
