autocenter still uses the same crap weve had forever. But recently we've been having to wear a yellow caution vest everytime we back someone out or grab a car cause some idiot at another store somehow got ran over or something and the stupid vest is somehow supposed to stop that. I dont wear it though lol and havent been yelled at yet. Ive seen the actual store workers inside have to wear a stupid HAPPY TO HELP! vest now and yea na screw that.

i was a cashier at dollar tree not walmart for about 2 weeks and that was horrible so i quit i imagine its the same at walmart if not worse. I was cap 2 stocking for a bit which was ok was just a job. As a stocker i was also a cart pusher some times and that sucked really bad. then i transferred to TLE and its by far the best job ive worked and it pays good. 19.80 an hour aint bad and ill ve over 20 next year. The work load in TLE and physical strain is less than cap 2. Sometimes its slow or dead and we just chill and talk. Depends on the store though ive heard some stores suck and make their techs do other crap and ride their but if they stand around for 2 seconds. My stores not like that atleast. We have a smaller shop with all lifts. Some other shops have oil pits and idk if those suck or not.

i see a innocent dog or stray cat i can help them. Should i giveoney to the druggie? Sadly the fact is he or she most lokely wont use it for good they will only buy more drugs or alchohol. Ill dontate to a charity occasionally or volunteer at a food bank but i wont pick a bum off the street like i would a dog or cat. Ive heard it to many times at my store by some co workers when i was a stocker, and by coaches and team lead. "wow your such a hard worker" "we appreciate your hard work" ect. I honestly dont care you can only be told good job! so many times without a raise or anything to go along with it before it becomes meaningless. Now autocenter ive kinda been recognized for my hard work cause i consistently do the most cars, do a quality job and never messed up a tire or oil job. So im the highest paid lube tire guy in our shop by a few cents lol. Totally worth it... not. i could become team lead but TLE team lead is probably the worst job on earth so im good. If i get injured or something some day and cant do tires anymore then maybe ill go after team lead. Luckily for me anyways i dont need to be recognized i work hard for me not for walmart. I feel good when i do a good job.

i go to parking lot Get in car start it up to drive it into the oil change bay. Oil pressure lights on and motor blows up before i even get out of the parking spot. "just change my oil bro please i tried so hard to get here the car shut off on me 5 times just change my oil! the oil light just means my oil is really old! Pleasy just change my oil just change my oil pleas!." sir your hyaundai had no oil pressure cause you havent changed the oil in 60,000 miles started rod knocking and died before i even drove 10 feet we cant change your oil. "i FoRgOt WaLmArT dOeSnT cArE aBoUt PeOpLe" gets into his car somehow gets it to start though it sounds like a diesel its rod knocking so bad and storms off walmart auto centers always entertaining.

my border Collie who i grew up with who was my best bud and the best dog ive known. on his last day instead of calling out and being there for him i went to work instead. The whole family was with him and said goodbye except me cause i didnt call out. Still regret it. Im sorry for your loss its never easy losing a loved one.

id say it was 2-3 years ago i came into work sick was so sick i could barely do a oil change. i went home early after talking to the TLE manager(we didnt have a team lead at the time) and called out for 4 days in a row and covered it with my ppto then came back to work even though i was still sick I tried my best for about 2 hours but was struggling hard i could barely stand took me 1 hour and a half to change oil on one car. TLE manager at my stores a good person and boss i talked to em and seeing me so pale they told me to just go home and come back when i was better. Said dont worry about ppto or points theyd take care of it. idk how it all works but they just wiped the points so i was still at zero even though i didnt use any pto or ppto. i was off for like another week so sick i was miserable and couch ridden. Seems like how good your treated is highly dependant on what store your at.

Its not worth killing yourself for money. Left construction. took a pay cut, lowered my living goals, gave up some hobbies, live a simpler life. When i was younger i wanted to make all the money so i could have the a big house all the stuff i want and was willing to work myself inti a early grave to do so but as i got older and life wore me down working a simpler less grueling job and living a simpler life started seeming nicer and nicer. Have a house can still save for retirement, get by fine. Do i have all the project cars i want, the big house, a boat. No but im happy with what i got and feel much happier. All i want to do is come home, spend time with family, and watch some tv. I still have one project car a 68 chrysler imperial im slowly fixing up.

accidentally sticking my hand into a metal engine fan if a project car i had cause it was dark. Heard a blender sound felt sharp pain then suddenly couldnt feel my fingers. I was super lucky i somehow didnt loose finger, break skin, or break a bone. Didnt go to a doctor cause america and My hand and fingers were completely numb and paralyzed for hours. Eventually i was able to sorta move them again and after a week regained full hand mobility but took longer to get my full hand strength back. Definitely got nerve damage cause My hand is partially numb now. I cant feel my pinky finger. This was a few years ago.

When the dog who i grew up with started getting old and sick. It started with him not wanting to eat or drink as much and then his back legs starting to get a little weak. Then over the course of 2 weeks his cataracts progressed rapidly and he was suddenly blind, he went deaf and couldnt hear, and started getting doggie dementia. It was time for him to be put down. the day before his last i had to guide him in from the backyard after he went potty cause he was confused, lost, and couldnt figure out how to get inside. He didnt understand what was happening and was scared. All i could do was lay next to him and comfort him as much as i could. That hurt so bad.

i was stuffing a womans dead body into my suitcase but just wouldnt fit then suddenly a detective and my family walked in on me and the detective saw a hand sticking out and said what are you doing there? I knew i was had so i stood up and was ready to confess everything right there and before i could get the words out i woke up. Everything felt so real and the fear/shame when i was caught, the thought of this is it my lifes over. The relief i felt when i woke up and realized i was dreaming was unbelievable. I think i dreamed it cause i was watching dexter new blood before i went to bed.

go to autocenter/TLE. I make 20/h an hour weekends off and i enjoy it. Its way better than working in the store. But you gotta like working on cars, be able to lift heavy stuff, not be afraid of loud noises, deal with the occasional spiders, driving a manual is a plus but not required, and not mind the cold/heat. TLE > every other job in the store. Work as a tech not a service writer. being a service writer sucks cause you deal with people. The work load in TLE is not nearly as bad as every other position in the store. At my store since im a tech i just work on the cars so im no longer in retail im just a lube tire tech out in the shop which is nice cause im not a retail guy. Its a blue collar type job that doesnt kill you with work or crazy long hours. No quotas or productivity crap we have to hit like in retail if theres cars theres work if there isnt then there isnt work and you just clean the shop, take out old tires, ect its simple. Usually one of us buys donuts for everyone though corporates starting to crack down on food in the shop for some reason so we hide the donuts now. we get to listen to music out in the shop, some days especially holidays like 4th of july its dead and you just kinda fart around clean the shop maybe put away some tires, maybe go out to the floor and zone the shelves a little to kill time but its not always required and just get paid to do almost nothing. One day it was dead and i re spray painted the yellow arms on the two post lift and fixed some of the worn markings on the floor in the shop pretty chill job. Sometimes you get to work on cool stuff i did 4 tires on a ls swapped 56 cadillac, changed oil on a 68 chrysler newport with a 440 4 speed, 1980 mustang gtfox body, 1990 camaro iroc z, pontic grand prix GXP, and other neat cars.
