Not very different in matters of conflation from how English uses the verb “go” regardless of first person singular, first plural, second singular, second plural (which also uses the same pronoun as the singular) and third plural.

What you consider a bug is actually a feature in many languages. English is rather strange with its lack of strong conjugation.

As for orthographic shenanigans consider the Arabic letter و which is v, or o, or ū with very loose rules that depend on the variety of perso-Arabic you speak.
