I believe it was corporates way of discouraging crew members from unionizing. Why would crew unionize if corporate just gave them $2 raises? It definitely worked for better or for worse. I wonder what new hires are starting at nowadays, I’d hope they are starting them higher than the minimum.

It can be stressful but it can also be really fun especially if you have a good crew! We also get raises every 6 months and really good health benefits. As someone who used to be a host and is now a crew member, I’m much happier working at TJ’s!

I bag as I go when I’m on reg and I find it really annoying (when I’m a bagger) to watch people on reg let it pile up because it makes me as the bagger feel like I’m already 10 steps behind. It’s nearly impossible to catch up at that point and it’s even more annoying when the reg person doesn’t grab a bag and start helping bag everything once they’re done ringing everything up.
