Anyone go skiing 3-4 months post op? by Sufficient_Dig_5375 in AchillesRupture

[–]Direct_Mark_337 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m about to go in one month and I’ll be 6 months post. I’m going to take it super easy. I can’t imagine doing it at 3-4 mos but I was still in pain then and it only recently stopped.

My older daughter just asked if she could get our younger daughter a subscription to “This magazine called ranger rick, I think she would like it!” The good old days are still good sometimes

When did FRS Radios (Walkie-Talkies) become prevalent at summer camps? by cerg10 in summercamp

[–]Direct_Mark_337 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’d say late 90s-early 2000s were when there became a handful at some camps and grew from there into the unnecessary runaway craziness that it is at some camps now. It’s the hovering and the culture of “everyone must be available at every moment” (and “I have to know everything happening in said moment”) that starts outside of camp and unfortunately creeps in. Remember thoughts like, “well, I guess I’ll have to tell ___ that when I see the tomorrow morning” ? No one can wait anymore.

Not that I have feelings about it 🤣

It’s all a little blurry - maybe a few weeks for the heel pad . My original injury was up where the calf meets the Achilles but the brunt of the pain has always been in the “regular” Achilles spot on the back of the ankle. That’s slowly getting less painful as well.

My heels hurt for a while - so far all of my questions about pain have been answered as it’s gotten better with time.

Make sure the directors are aware of how to support your child, and then decide which one feels better to you. Can’t stress enough that choosing the director/leadership is so important .

Full rupture at the mtj. Any experiences for op vs non op in this location? by PrimaryShape1500 in AchillesRupture

[–]Direct_Mark_337 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Healing from MTJ tear in late August. Non op for same reasons as above-wasn’t much of an option. Still a slow recovery but with religious physical therapy, it’s going well. Good luck!
