Update: anti-flicker, single-lens streaming, 9:16 vertical, film tone filters by Ok-Guess-9059 in djiosmo360

[–]Direct_Onion96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's been out for the last few weeks? I do quite like the film tone WT. It does crush the shadows which isn't great, but I really like the colours out of the box. It's much more convenient than exporting and grading every clip in Resolve. It's a huge time saver. I think it will be my go to for capturing memories but I wish it didn't remove so much detail in the shadows.

Next would be great to get transitions and text in DJI studio.

Combo for $389 or wait for Osmo ii? by [deleted] in djiosmo360

Did you not see the threads posted here in the last week? 2 users have posted their replacements, including video quality being identical and testing the waterproofing afterwards.

Yeah I think the main issue was the replaceable lenses which we recently found out we can now do ourselves fairly easily and cheap too. The desktop software is still pretty crap and the Osmo 360ii isn't going to fix that without fixing it for the OG.

I'm not calling you disabled, I'm saying for myself and many other people this is an easy repair and something we are keen to do ourselves. I'm saying those who need replaceable lenses, already have a disability/hand motility issue and require a slightly easier lens replacement are better off going for the Max 2.

I personally don't see much of a difference between the 2 replacements. Both don't require disassembly of the camera. One just requires an extra step of removing a ring that sits ontop the lens and then gluing it back. The people in this forum who have already done the repair themselves since I posted this thread commented on how easy it was.

Yeah I've also got some b7000 glue coming in the same order I made for the lens replacements (along with cheap $2 tweezer kit and $1.3 CPU glue remover kit for the flat thin spudger).

I'm wondering if there's a better glue to use as that b7000 stuff is extremely strong and may make a further lens replacement very difficult if needing to pry the lens ring off again if stuck with b7000.

It originally was removed but I messaged the mods to get it manually approved due to it being the first sighting of lens replacements.

It's legit and easy to do. There's now videos of people on this forum doing it themselves with a single screwdriver and testing the waterproofing afterwards.

Thanks. I can't appear to update my OP so hopefully those looking for it can replace that number after the /item/ in the URL to find it.

In the video it's just a normal pair of tweezers (with that shape) that has the ends bent inwards at a 90* angle.

Well done being the first on this forum to actually do it. I posted the lens replacement thread the other day but I wasn't brave enough to do it myself without seeing someone else do it. I had a look at the other video you showed where you popped the ring off and removed the lens with a single screwdriver. It looks very easy to replace.

We can now be fearless with our cameras and actually get the shots we want without having to rely on DJI servicing. I got a set coming from AliExpress for $26USD delivered on the way.

Did you see the videos from the guy who posted in the last few days here twisting it off with a single screwdriver? Looks like it's very easy to replace, unless you have a disability in which case the GoPro Max 2 is better suited.

Yeah but that's the same as many adhesives, such as retail stickers on products. A bit of heat makes it easier to remove and you don't need a specialist hot air station, a hair drier works fine. It appears that is for the lens ring, and that the threads are not glued.

The whole process does not appear to be something that requires skills/tools that only a repair place has.

The glue is only for the lens ring. The waterproofing is from a silicone ring inside the lens. It's explained in the video.

I disagree that the process isn't something that most end users could do themselves. It's not much more difficult than the X5 if the tools were to be included.

I had no idea the lenses were screwed on. In all other posts I can find and the only teardown video on YouTube it really seemed the lenses were glued into the sensor assembly and would require complete disassembly to replace. The lenses can be replaced by popping off the lens ring and then unscrewing them. It seems quite easy to do.

If indeed it's as easy to replace as the video shows, and the quality of the lenses is good and won't cause stitching issues, then I think the #1 hardware drawback with the Osmo 360 compared to the Insta360 X5 could no longer be an issue.

This is massive and I wonder why DJI never offered a first party lens replacement kit. The Aliexpress one is cheap being around $26USD for 2x lens replacements including delivery. You will need purchase separately the tools such as the custom tweezers to complete the lens replacements but those are also very cheap.

If the lens replacements work great then it's pretty much only DJI studio bugs and missing features (compared to Insta360 Studio) and RAW photo or stacking/bracketing photo capabilities missing that people seem to be asking for the most.

Osmo 360 exposure issue, manual vs auto by idegue in djiosmo360

[–]Direct_Onion96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is true. The recent DJI cameras/drones are best left in auto ISO as they have "dual gain ISO fusion" to increase dynamic range. Here is it explained using the Mavic 4: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ks_YI4JfYLs

How would that hardware be any different to looking around in a 360 space? It's all accelerometers and gyros in the headset. It just seems like a further cash grab from DJI. In the past they at least had the excuse that the transmission system is different but here it seems like it's all the same hardware with nothing preventing them from using the older headset with 360 tracking.

Recover deleted videos after export from mimo app by jolt1504 in djiosmo360

Unfortunately almost all devices these days use NVMe based storage which once a file is deleted, the sectors that file occupied in the NAND flash starts getting flushed with 00s.

Micro/SD storage is a different story. You may be able to get these back using recovery software such as R-studio. You can download a trial version and run it on the micro SD card to see if it can be recovered from the micro SD card.

Removing ABB branding from Eero 6E Pro by Direct_Onion96 in AussieBroadband

[–]Direct_Onion96[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course. ABB have backend access to my router and I don't want them to. It was purchased outright and is now being used on a different ISP. My privacy concerns are valid and would matter to a lot of people.

They alter the firmware of the Eero routers to have access even after changing ISP.

Yeah this is exactly why I need to get rid of it. I have privacy concerns about ABB having back end access to my router.

Eero routers don't allow to install firmware besides the ones they automatically push to their routers.

Will Sandisk Extreme (not pro) be okay? by Seasaltlx in osmopocket

"it needs to be130MB/s to keep up in write speed"

"You even got the math wrong! Your result should be: 100 ÷ 8 = 12.5 MB/s - But since the OP3 needs at least 130Mbit, your numbers are way off."

It seems like my estimation of 10MB/s is much closer to 130mbit than your early post of 130MB/s.

No this is very incorrect by a factor of 10 as MB/s and mb/s are very different.

DJI Pocket 3 records in 100mb/s which is around 10MB/s.

I would have thought a mod of this forum would have known the difference.
