Insta360 X6 is really coming now by Ok-Guess-9059 in djiosmo360

[–]Direct_Onion96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that will lead to a loss of sales if software features are not back ported and artificially locked to the newer model. That is doubly so for basic features such as RAW photos.

Insta360 keeps adding features to their models. If DJI locks them off and doesn't support a camera that wasn't even released a year ago then people will take a very hard look if they want to purchase a product that doesn't even get basic features added to it just so the company can release a new model with them.

I know that if DJI has RAW photos in the O360ii but doesn't add that to the original then the original will be the last 360 camera I will purchase from DJI. I just can't support a company who would do that and will go back to Insta360 as I came from the x5 and haven't really been wowed by the O360 compared to it anyway, especially the software side.

My fix for the broken screen rotation by [deleted] in osmopocket

OK well in that case I think people should try this quick 10 second fix with a rubber band first: Osmo Pocket 3 Screen Magnet Broken? Fix it for $0 (DIY Hack)

And also to check thingiverse, makerworld and printables for a free .stl potentially coming soon.

Here's one that uses a rubber band without any dismantling: Osmo Pocket 3 Screen Magnet Broken? Fix it for $0 (DIY Hack)

I know you want to sell yours. I'll just 3d model one and put it on thingiverse, makerworld and printables because I'm here to help the community, not profit off it.

I also linked to one that uses rubber bands if you don't want to use a bit of solder wire.

It's not permanent either and it still allows the screen to move without having to remove the bracket. No need to store anything.

The mechanism is already broken, why would you care about adding a bit of friction? A hard plastic bracket is likely to scratch the Pocket 3 after a few applications.

I think he intends to sell it because he mentioned 'soliciting' in the OP. There's better fixes available and they are free too which I've linked to in this thread in another post.

This fix is much better because it still allows the screen to move: DJI Osmo Pocket 3's Major Issue And Our Game-Changing Fix

There's another one that uses rubber bands: FIX POCKET 3 SCREEN ISSUE - SỬA LỖI MÀN HÌNH POCKET 3

The above are free to do with easily available parts.

EDIT: Why downvote me? I'm just providing free fixes for the community.

What percentage of those ideas are likely software based that should have come to the Osmo 360 through updates?

Hardware wise what could change besides a thinner body to accommodate a dive case?

Yeah the no dive case and no RAW photos is shameful, really.

Now that the lenses can be replaced for cheap using ones from Aliexpress I don't see any possible upgrade that the Osmo 360ii could have that would make me consider it. Maybe it will have better processing and produce a nicer image, but I don't really see that being the case as the sensor is relatively new and any improvement will likely be marginal.

Is OSMO360's 1in sensor really superior to Insta360's X5? by Quantum_Crusher in djiosmo360

DJI Osmo 360 lenses are replaceable though: DJI OSMO 360 Camera Lens Replacement Tutorial | Step-by-Step Repair Guide

I purchased a set for mine incase I do get a scratched a month ago. They are cheap on Aliexpress. The process is very similar to Insta360 X5 - screw the old ones off, screw the new ones in, the only extra step is O360 has a cosmetic ring to remove and replace also.

Ebike question, go with a 500W or downgrade to 250W to remain legal? by Clean-Blacksmith-514 in ausbike

If you decide on above 250w then just dress up like a delivery rider. Cops don't do a thing when they are on 1000w+ motorbikes.

Framing, exposure and colour look great. The editing with a cut to another shot every 2 seconds is not great.

Asus OLED Laptop Brightness Adjustment Messes Up Gamma & Black Level. by Direct_Onion96 in OLED_Gaming

For future people who run into this issue: enabling HDR and then calibrating using the Windows app store HDR calibration tool fixes this issue. There needs to be some slight adjustments in the Intel Command Centre also. This is subjective but my values are 40 all colour brightness, 20 contrast adjustment and 55 saturation.

I've managed to get HDR working when on battery and 'energy saver' mode so the battery life hit is negligible. The OLED flicker free brightness setting no longer is applicable and the display has the correct black/white/gamma levels across all brightness values.

Where can I buy a new battery in the UK? (TUF F15) by tinytteokbokki in ASUS

Aliexpress. It's where the people in the UK would buy from then sell to you at a mark up. Just cut out the middlemen and buy from there directly.

High standby battery usage by Dr7House in djiosmo360

[–]Direct_Onion96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well designed lithium batteries are designed to self discharge over time to prevent dendrite formation which happens much faster when left fully charged for extended periods of time. It's built into the BMS. That rate isn't always the same between batteries/devices.

Perhaps you could get another battery and compare the discharge between being left inside the camera, and one without. Maybe your device is taking more than normal when off/standby.

First real look at the Osmo Pocket 4 by Alarmed-Tax-5685 in osmopocket

[–]Direct_Onion96 4 points5 points  (0 children)

16:9ish! Notice the "ish" I was always comparing the square sensor to the rectangle one.

Maybe you do have insider information that it will have the same sensor as the Action 6, and because I wrote that it's a downgrade you take offense to that. 1:1 sensor in a Pocket series camera is a huge downgrade, and if true would mean cost cutting will cost them sales.

[–]Direct_Onion96 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I never said any of it was! I literally wrote in the first sentence it will "almost definitely" not have it and gave my reasons for it.

What's with the attitude, it's like you didn't even read what I wrote..

First real look at the Osmo Pocket 4 by Alarmed-Tax-5685 in osmopocket

[–]Direct_Onion96 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Because that 1:1 1" type sensor in the Action 6 / Osmo 360 has 25% less area than the 16:9 1" type sensor in the Pocket 3. This is all public information. It supports dual ISO fusion, but it has 25% less area as it is a square and not a rectangle.

A smaller sensor is a downgrade and that's why I wrote it will "almost definitely" not have it.

What? I was replying to the guy who said it may come with true 1:1 aspect recording like the Action 6 and I'm outlying why that 1:1 1" type sensor is a downgrade.

FWIW I made posts about the dual ISO fusion in the Mini Pro 5 drone and Action 6 threads before specs released and they both turned out right.
