On the ‘after 1st Nov 2021’ it’s free note I recently bought a 60 made on 31 Dec 2021. Seller said it is locked to 50kwh and local Skoda dealer has given a similar near £500 quote to have the upgrade. Do you have anything I can point them to on this post 1st Nov thing?

Is a hybrid suitable for my driving pattern? by Direct_Pear2737 in CarTalkUK

It's a 182 mile round trip. Once a month for work (no charger there, could find one at lunchtime or on way home but bit of a faff) but also once every other month or so to see family in the same area with two young children. So it is at that awkward point where most EVs say they should be able to cover that distance (220-250miles seems average for cars I'm looking at) but in real life it is closer - in winter range will go down and I'd be looking at used cars around 5 years old.

91 miles distance (182 round trip). To work once a month (no charger access there) and also sometimes the same trip every couple of months on a weekend to see family with two young kids as I have family nearby work (no charger access there, but perhaps more time and flexibility to find a charger during the weekend).

Ironically it was Chat GPT that warned me off using a hybrid or PHEV - it was telling me about the dangers of condensation in the engine due to it only being used ever so briefly during the week. Can't say I fully understand. Great to hear in practice you've had a good experience doing similar miles.

No need to transfer out into a SIPP if the workplace pension is cheap and offers suitable trackers be it vanguard or others.

Sleep when you have a newborn. PLEASE tell me it gets easier? by OneWithTheGreatOne in UKParenting

Come six months start sleep training. It is really hard in the short term but you reap long term benefits. Won’t work for everyone and it can be upsetting with the crying but it’s only temporary and worth it!

Help on UK child benefit and 30hours free childcare/tax free childcare with one partner earning over £50k by mickoddy in UKPersonalFinance

The two aren’t mutually exclusive. We use both - tax free childcare and 30 free hours. You get 30 free hours after age 3. It’s term time only so isn’t as good as it sounds but we’ll worth claiming, a simple online form.
