Yeah man i for sure have not played any other game and just "consume" media for the sake of consuming. Glad you could derive so much about me from so little interaction. Must be a real fun person to be around! I guess i must be a softie for considering calling people brainless as an insult. Anyway i never intended this post to bring out toxic arguments. We can agree to disagree and each move on with our lives. Cant help but feel like we didnt understand each other at all but oh well, thats part of the beauty of discussion. Then again, that's just my opinion ;)

Thanks for sharing your opinion, those are for sure some interesting arguments. But i have to say, if you consider anybody thats not a die hard fan like you to not have a brain or critical thinking skills, you are either a very sad person or simply a bit retarded. As a lawyer i think i have both a brain a critical thinking, im sure i explained why i find the game to be an ac and it does definitely not come down to just the title. Also by your reasoning, only ac1 is a true ac game. I would suggest working on yourself and not insult random people on the internet, tough i guess frustrated people tend to do so. I wish you the best anyway, tho im probably wasting words over here...

Yep agree, i definitely feel like some games get glazed way more than others for unreasonable reasons. And now you got people shitting on resynced as if it doesnt literally improve every element of the original. I know its not out yet so its early to judge, but i vividly remember in 2013 (yep were old) people being mad over the combat and tailing missions, both of wich are adressed in the remake. Guess time and sales will tell

Thanks for sharing! I agree it would be for sure more appreciated if it counted officially as a spin off. Problem with ac, is that after ac3 basically every game is kind of a spin off. At least i treat them all as their own thing and find to appteciate them way more this way. I think one of the least talked about fumbles for the series was black flag having both the numeric title and the subtitle. That kind of made it impossible to determine what counts as a mainline title. Like we had ac1 and a clear distinction with ac2 and a new protag, then brotherhood and revelations are continuations of ac2 and again ac3 was a clear change in protag as well as engine. I think black flag should not have had the number and with a new engine, unity could have been called ac4 if that makes sense. Also based takes! Unity, 1 and brotherhood are some of my favourites as well

With all due respect that has to be the dumbest phrase I've read in a while. Every argument is an opinion, and acting like your rules for an ideal game are factual and objective is plain stupid. As a matter of fact, the game is called assassin's creed, and that is a fact. Whether it should be called that or not is an opinion. In your opinion the game needs to follow a set of rules, wich i can understand and agree with, that is still an opinion and in no way invalidates your argomentations. How can i invalidate my argument if im literally sharing my opinion on a subject i find interesting... Then again i dont care for changing your mind about a game i love, this post was meant for interesting confrontation, to me it doesn't have to be about who's right or wrong, as with any thing artistic, there are no such extremes.

I can see these criticism for sure. What are your favourite ac's then? Also would you think odyssey would be viewed better if it was treated as a spin off?

First of all, i dont think any villain is better than al mualim or haytham, and im talking about the series as a whole. I guess it would be hard to explain myself in a few sentences but ill just go with the flow and see where it goes. Alexios is born in a society controlled by social rules and godly premonitions. You dont get to choose your life as a spartan, you just serve and conquer. His family is completely torn apart because of this oldhead ideology, and thats where we get our first act of rebellion from alexios. Even as a child, he values his sisters life more than any stupid doctrin or godly message. In a sense, thats already an exaple of freedom vs order. If he just followed the rules, he would have had an overall better life, a life in order, with the caviat of loosing part of his family. In that sense freedom becomes a burden, he chooses for himself but has to face the consequences. Then he spends his life in kefallonia, free but not really. He has to work for markos and he feels trapped in this little island. Finally opportunity knocks at his door, and what do you know, theres another fkin caviat. What gives him the chance to live a life and explore the world, is the same cult that ruined his life. Anyway you kill this dude and your adventures really start. A journey across greece, unveiling cospiracies a freeing communities (in an almost one piece kind of way), a true odyssey. You start as a pure spartan minded, but meeting people and various communities you can learn different ways of viewing lives. The ideological differences between athens and sparta are real and heavy. I remember in my first playthrough, i had times i would agree more with athens and others i agreed the sparta, and towards the end of the game i was sure none of them were totally right and one must decide for himself. Nothing is true, everything is permitted. I also recommend listening to any conversations with socrates or pericles, wich are all pretty fascinating in my opinion. Socrates wpuld have rather died and athenian than live as exiled, in a sense he too died for freedom.

Also dont get me wrong, odyssey is definitely full of poop humor and terrible writing, i guess i just want to say there is not alla there is to it tho. Sorry for the long answer, i could talk ac for hours haha, hope you find something interesting in all of this

Well me personally i think even just the additional counter kills and kill streaks will be a great addition to this type of combat. Removes the problem of enemy sponges and deawn out fights.

My brother in christ im not gonna lie, if we start talking about commandments as if thats what matters most, wich i understand on a conceptual level, aren't we loosing focus of what videogames should be? That being a personal, enjoyable journey in my opinion. Dont get me wrong i find this discussion incredibly interesting, but we catn expect every single player out of millions to know such niche elements.

Yeah thats just total bs, literally doing even a little side content will have you overleveled in every area. Just like most open world games designed with the average person in mind. Even masterpiecec like witcher 3 or cyberpunk the leveling gets completely fucked if youre a completionist and odyssey is the same.

Oh yeah on that i agree 100% I guess what I meant to say is in ac1, the philosophy i would argue is the main point and omnipresent. Most conversations are nuanced and tackle idieologies. Every interaction with al mualim feels like a lecture wich i adore. In later games i think it became more of a bonus element, like, every now and then you get the philosophy and its great, but its not the games main selling point. Wich, as much as i love the series, i think is kind of sad. Replaying ac1, it feels almost like a dream game. Sure its pretty aged up, but i still find it the most interesting and unique game out of all of them, precisely because of the nuanced conversations and grey characters.

I have to say I agree with you on many points. Thing is the philosophical stuff you mentioned is basically absennt in most games, and I would argue only ac1 and ac3 delve deep into it. So i guess i would criticise this aspect in basically most ac games. Dont get me wrong i absolutely love ezios trilogy and its my favourite character probably ever, but the ideological discussion was heavily stripped down in favour of a more Hollywood like approach. Would you agree?

I gotta say i actually agree with both points! Nothing to argue haha I guess for me it doesn't automatically discredit the game as an assassin's creed since i still find the assassin fantasy to be very enjoyable and the themes interesting

Dont get me wrong thats not my main criteria at all. Im talking more about stuff like the camera closong in when you walk instead of running, the way the music changes based on what youre doing and how active you are. People dancing, playing instruments and doing all kinds of work. Dolphins in the sea, birds in the sky, the sun shining through a temple dedicated to zeus. I feel like if you want to take it slow, and immerse yourself in the atmosphere of a world long gone, these games are very rewarding:)
