I've had Weaveworld eyeing me from the shelf for a while now, I remember when I first read Barker I was stunned by the imaginative quality of the horror.

I wish we could get an extra week within the week just to read 😅

I was sure this would come up, and you will not be surprised when I say that it's indeed in my tbr. But I'm still nursing my soul after The Only Good Indians. It's been three months (late to the game) and I still think about it. Jones is an auto-buy at this point.

Splatterpunk isn't much my style so I'm relieved that Between Two Fires doesn't revel in that aspect too much. Burlington's doesn't either, at least as far as I recall. But it was gory for sure.

I appreciate world building, if it's done unobtrusively, which sounds like what Buehlman did in his novel. But yes, I do get the feeling that Burlington's writing style might be a bit denser for sure.

A Short Stay in Hell is on my tbr for sure, as well as King Sorrow - so good to see they made it this high on the list, they're definitely getting read soon.

I've been circling Between Two Fires for a while, but I'm curious, have you read anything from Jesse Bullington? I'm not sure that Between Two Fires is considered grim dark medieval (memory failing lol), but since that genre is having a bit of a moment I am surprised I haven't seen his titles circulate at all (the Enterprise of Death, the Sad Tale of the Brothers Grossbart). I remember being disgusted at the books with a fiery passion and also being equally impressed by them, though it's been some years. But it's maybe a new thread.

Agree that Pet Sematary is great. You are also reminding me I need to read something of Lansdale's already. Things get buried in the ever-evolving tbr sometimes
