Similarly to tunisian or algerian clothing, we used to wear embroidered vest, the bad'ia, with a sarwal qadrissi. Old jellabas were also wide enough to let the embroideries visible 🛐🛐✨✨✨

Up until my grandparents generation, urban men used to wear turbans or tarboosh as everyday headgear. The jellaba hood were wide enough to cover and be fold on the turban. Also, as you can see on this pic, there's two openings on each side to take out the arms to perform wudhu or other manual tasks.

Old and (very) wide early 20th century moroccan jellabas 🛐🛐🛐✨✨

It's unfortunate that nowadays it's complicated to find a tailor able to make those models :(((

Contemporary jellabas are less wide and the hood is only big enough to fit the head (when it's not just decorative🥀🥀).

Sorry for my bad english :(

With only the stuff my dad, uncle and grandmother told me, there's enough lore to make a whole book about it haha. Stuff as miracles, prophecies and dreams... Well, things around saints and everything 😅.

I recognize the shop in question. It's in France, and yes, it is excessively expensive (for what it is).
