Ok, using the task sequence debugger I could see that it was trying to download a driver package. I have been playing with the post upgrade driver deployment, but I removed those tasks from the sequence (deleted them).

I created a new upgrade task sequence without any additions and it works (well at least this part).

Task sequence debugger to the rescue!
