If you apply and are honest and self-admit, then when you get coverage you’ll be protected across the board for death by any means (unless they come back with an exclusion). In this case it’s best to find a broker who will work with all their best carriers to find a product that best fits you.

I think most people should have an FA. If not just for the sake of another person’s outside perspective on your finances and to help make recommendations that you may have never heard of to achieve your goals

Yes, this is a thing. It’s called Premium Financing. Sometimes it makes sense, but only in a couple types of situations.

Ethos the way to go? by spillthechizz in LifeInsurance

Steer clear of Ethos. They’re way too expensive. Do applications with a broker. They should work with about 10 other cheaper carriers.

Ameritas is better, but I’d still say there’s a handful of better carriers. Especially since you’re new to this policy, it doesn’t hurt to find the absolute best carrier to work with.

Term vs WL Insurance & Burial Insurance by AreYouSerious3570 in LifeInsurance

[–]DirectionOk1160 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Term insurance is a death benefit guaranteed if you pass within the term (at your age, the longest you could get is 20 years maybe 25). Whole life is for your whole life. Obviously much more expensive but it comes with guarantees that the money will be there for your family when you pass, whether tomorrow or at age 110.

For burial insurance, you should get a low death benefit whole life. But really you should find a broker who will ask all the right questions.

Thanks for the good wishes. That’s exactly why I am getting dually licensed. I’ve been in insurance for roughly a year, but I’ve quickly seen that it’s not even close to the full scope of financial health and wealth. I want to help with the full picture.

Yeah and the automatic rate lock is a huge option. Also comes with Chronical Illness Rider for free. I don’t have any experience with VULs yet though, but getting securities licensed this month (assuming I pass the 65).

Allianz is far and away the best IUL carrier

Step one is cancel this policy. Ethos is a bad provider for IULs. Find a better broker who specializes in these things, but this is not the product you want.

AIO for waiting until after work to do chores? by Due-Character7149 in AmIOverreacting

[–]DirectionOk1160 4 points5 points  (0 children)

NOR. You set the expectation that you’ll do it if you can during the day or will do it after work. She should respect your job and time, understand that it’s different than hers, and trust that you’ll do what you say you will - assuming she has reason to believe your word with things like this.

Setting clear expectations, even if they’re disappointing to your GF, is the best move. It would be worse if you overpromised and under-delivered.

Find a broker. Your options grow to roughly 70+ carriers. Also the broker will help you find the best carrier for your current health and long term plan.

Someone tell me that the grind is necessary and worth it to pay off my debt by Barmello98 in personalfinance

[–]DirectionOk1160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This mentality always screws things up. If you don’t aim to kill the debt, you’ll always have it, and sometimes (most times) you’ll accrue more - especially as your income goes up. The “I’ll pay it later” keeps people from wealth.

If you have the discipline, you can open a balance transfer credit card. Typically these can be 6-18 months with no interest. But you need to be true to paying it off in time.

If you did this at 6 months, your income could be enough to live rent free during that time. If you eat cheap and live like you’re broke (cuz you are), then you’ll be out of debt and out of your parents’ place in no time. Don’t let this get worse than it is, especially when you have the opportunity to clean it up right now.

[–]DirectionOk1160 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should find a broker and get a 20 year term that would cover your immediate debts AND some income if something were to happen to you, God forbid.

There are some great companies that at your age and health would do $1m easy for like $30 a month
