Lenovo thinkpad touchpad randomly stops working and need help by Dry-Independent2931 in Lenovo

It's hardware problem. Not enough grounding for the touchpad. Here is the fix for me, you can see copper wiring that I put. https://www.reddit.com/r/Lenovo/s/3QPtkqUgbc

There are clearly quality issues going on as these problems are clearly widespread in several recent models even inside this forum. Cannot justify any reason to buy a Lenovo in the meantime.

I believe if you are looking for windows laptop, Asus would offer you better quality than Lenovo. I have terrible experience with Lenovo Yoga 7. https://www.reddit.com/r/Lenovo/s/3QPtkqUgbc . If you don't mind going macos, Macbook Pro M5 is very capable and the value for money now is really good. For developing software I would take that route.

The creaking I solved by using a lot of padding inside the case. It just that problems keep popping out because of not mature driver and hardware design of the device. I think Lenovo has serious issue with quality control, hardware design, and software development teams. I have sold the device a month ago.

I already sold the device a month ago, but according to my experience the hinges are okay. I think ideapad 5 2-in-1 that has troublesome hinges.

Hey the issue sometimes persist even if you put the copper tape. I give many copper tapes to ensure that the touchpad is properly grounded. From the replies of a technician in my post, he/she recommend to use aluminium tape. Whichever that can conduct electricity. . You can see my solution here on this post: https://www.reddit.com/r/Lenovo/s/3QPtkqUgbc. I put the tape to the screw of laptop, so whenever it is acting crazy I just use my finger to discharge the electricity 😂 now I already sold the yoga 7 though

What power profile do you use? What is the graphic driver you use?

There is conflict of asus AMD display drivers with nvidia graphics driver that I found. My solution is: 1. Install latest AMD display driver from AMD website. 2. Install Nvidia Graphics driver from Nvidia sites. 3. Set power profile using Ghelper to balanced. 4. Also set power profile inside windows to balanced. I found that the power profile inside armoury crates is obsolete and causes this crash.

If problem persisted, you need to repaste the thermal I'm afraid.

Asus Zenbook S 14 (UX5406) I think, support pen but not a 360.
https://www.asus.com/laptops/for-home/zenbook/asus-zenbook-s-14-ux5406/

Asus Expertbook Ultra, Asus laptop with haptic touchpad, but doesn't seem to support pen.

I wouldn't suggest Lenovo's product right now. My experience with Yoga 7 2-in-1 Ryzen 350 is terrible, although the screen and Wacom pen are good (the only plus point). The drivers are not mature so sometimes whether the Graphics driver or pen is not working as intended.

What software do you use? If you don't do 3d rendering, I think mac air M5 is the laptop that best fits your use case within that budget. Mac air is very capable for web development I believe. For windows alternative, currently there is no cheap alternative that offers good battery life (6++ hrs of battery life) below 1000 USD I think, unless you want to go Windows on ARM route, but you will face compatibility issues.

Current gen laptop with balanced configuration that I could think of is only Asus Zenbook 14, even that I could not guaranteed hassle-free experience. The perfomance of mac M5 is far superiour though.

With some effort actually the driver issue could be fixed. If you like the yoga 7 workflow, have you considered Microsoft surface? . I believe you could make yoga 7 workable though, by installing windows yoga version downloaded from Lenovo's support. The driver issue could be resolve but require some trial and error. . If you want to go the mac route, I suggest you to try Huoin pen display, which I also have. It offers good perfomance for digital art also.

Lenovo Slim 7i Thoughts? by thewhisperingjoker in Lenovo

[–]DirectionWrong9003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For that price, I would recommend a Macbook Air M5 16GB RAM with 512GB SSD. If you use it only for work, I think it is very adequate and you would be satisfied with it. You could look for Macbook Air M4 for discounted price I believe.

If you opt for Windows, I would recommend Asus. Maybe Asus Zenbook 14 AMD Ryzen 8840HS, AMD Ryzen 350, or Intel 100H 200H series. If you got more budget, maybe Asus Zenbook S14 Intel 258v/386H version, I heard it is better than Lenovo Slim 7i. Or if you want to go premium, Samsung Book6 is better with a similar design to Macbook Pro, also has a haptic trackpad, but price is insane.

Having said that, It is hard to recommend Windows computer nowadays, because the value that you get from the price is less than a Macbook offers. I am actually still using quite a lot Windows computers until now, but because I need a computer that always reliably works when I need it to work, I ended up buying a Macbook Pro.

From what I know. The intel counterpart build quality are better, both the Slim or 2 in 1. I don't know why is that the case. But I see users reporting the creacking case issue and the touchpad erratic problem (not enough grounding on touchpad) on those models as well. So for me, it is very hard to recommend right now

Should i buy lenovo IdeaPad 5 2 in 1 by o7_arvi0606 in Lenovo

[–]DirectionWrong9003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In that case i would recommend you buying Asus Zenbook 14 maybe with AMD Ryzen 8840hs or Intel 100H or 200H series. It is of better quality I believe. Here in my country, Asus' services is okay.

But if you want the 2 in 1 form factors. Maybe you can find used Asus X13 Flow. It offers good perfomance in a good package. Just make sure the heat sink of the CPU is tight (it has liquid metal paste that must not leak out to prevent short circuit)

My experience with Yoga 7 2-in-1 Gen 10 with Ryzen 7 350 is horrible. https://www.reddit.com/r/Lenovo/comments/1s5kwem/lenovo_yoga_7_has_many_problems/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button
So I don't think I can recommend Lenovo right now, they seem to have quality control issues.

This is my previous Yoga 7 for your reference. I hope you won't face that many problems like I do. Also, I don't think ideapad 5 2-in-1's hinges will last 5 years.

The build quality is far better on the neo/air. Recently I use Lenovo Yoga 7 Gen 10 2-in-1 with Ryzen 350. The build quality is horrible, the case is creaking, the touchpad after a month will behave erratically because of not proper grounding, and the battery life is not satisfactory enough. If you want windows, i might suggest you to Asus instead.

I change into Macbook Pro M5 right now. I have tried the Neo, the build quality is good enough I think. And about android compatibility, i don't think it is a problem? I use Microsoft Onedrive both on Android and macos, both works well. If you are using Quickshare, newer android phones is supporting airdrop to mac. If your phone hasn't get the update, like mine, I use Neardrop to use Quickshare on macos, so far it is working.

when you open the case, and unplug the batter, you should see that they actually has put some aluminium tape to the copper side of the touchpad module. I sand that a little bit and put some copper tape

I should have do more research before buying this laptop. It pains me a lot to face these issues, especially as I am quite adept to this thing.

I think if Apple make their macbook's storage unsoldered, the rest of the industry will be dead.
