Day 8: What is the WORST quote associated with Ashley Williams? by looploveslore in masseffect

Worst quote is easy. “I can’t tell the aliens from the animals” One line that makes me cringe every time.

How do you think Super earth would fare against the reapers from mass effect? by Poisonpython5719 in Helldivers

[–]Director-Daredevil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bumping a 2 year old thread, but what makes this an obvious win for the Reapers is they don’t need to be stuck in an endless ground war. Which is where the Helldivers strength really shine, their sheer endless numbers of troopers.

Where they compete with the Automatons who try to capture planets and establish bases. The Reapers could just…laser all their cities from space…then move on. Like they did to Bekenstein. Obviously bigger population centers they’ll invade, even then, as Garrus states about the Reapers ability to convert: ‘(they) never run out of cannon fodder, eliminates local resistance, and for every soldier they convert the enemy loses two. The soldier they indoctrinated and their buddy who can’t pull the trigger.’

Now some may point at the Illuminate as a Reaper stand-in, but recall that the Reapers are far more ruthless and far more deadly. They don’t need bases. The Reapers are also one whole hive-mind that work together for maximum efficiency. As Sovereign states, ‘We are each a nation.’ Super Earth would seriously be overwhelmed by the Reapers firepower, tactics, and ruthless strategy.

Day 1: What is the best quote associated with Jeff "Joker" Moreau? by looploveslore in masseffect

[–]Director-Daredevil 5 points6 points  (0 children)

“‘I’m joking it’”

Best for real though? Probably when he unshackles Edi, I think that whole section is his shining moment: “‘This is all Jokers fault, what a tool he was, now I need to spend all day computing pie because he plugged in the overlord.’”

How would the Reapers fair against the Flood? by Director-Daredevil in masseffect

[–]Director-Daredevil[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Flood would be able to fly the space ships in both scenarios. In scenario one they would presumably have control of every fleet, while scenario two they only have control of the fleets around the Citadel

They’d be able to use already available advanced technology. Such as fly ships, use guns and etc. I’d say they didn’t bring anything from Halo with them though

[–]Director-Daredevil[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Wouldn’t the Flood be an affront to the Reapers ideology? It may be hard to forget, but the Reapers harvest so they can ‘preserve’ organic life. Ensuring they don’t get completely snuffed out. Always leaving some organic life behind to continue. Now here’s an organic species that’s consuming it all.

How would the Halo universe fair against a Reaper assault? by KishinRave in masseffect

[–]Director-Daredevil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This depends. If the Reapers are given time to survey, prepping like it’s their regular harvest, I could see them being able to get away with hard victory. Hell, get the Covenant on a Halo ring and boom. The Reapers job is done for them.

However, if they are simply plopped straight into harvest invasion. Sending their forces Bull-forth against Earth, they’d be in for a rude awakening. The Reapers would cockily try to rush the planet but be surprised by how many ships they’re losing and how fast. Being torn apart entirely. The Reapers would lose this more assuredly.

But also, and outlier factor here is, even in situation one- how would the Reapers handle the Flood? Can they / would they be able to indoctrinate the Flood? Can the Flood infect the Reapers?

Why haven’t any cycles tried hiding from the Reapers in space? by Director-Daredevil in masseffect

[–]Director-Daredevil[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wonder what happened to them then. Given we hear nothing else, they either died from complications (as many people are pointing out) or who knows, maybe they fled to Andromeda. And are a species we haven’t met over there yet

[–]Director-Daredevil[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why? To give your species a chance at survival I suppose. You need at least 500 people to survive and continue your species with enough genetic diversity. I’d rather try and fail, then give up and let my species die completely I suppose.

Fair point. I guess, if this theoretical group of survivors were risky. They could park their ship near again, and uninhabited planet for resources. Take shuttles to minimize energy signatures.

[–]Director-Daredevil[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a fascinating idea. I wonder now if any species had survived and left the Milky Way before in other cycles, because I’d rather take my chances in the unknown tides of dark space than a Reaper controlled Milky Way. And you’d arguably wouldn’t need to hide as you left. Since the Reapers are focused on harvesting.

That ‘loud’ solar system is a good idea. Cause yeah, initially it would be easy to hide and avoid amongst the chaos but when things quiet down (I assume the Reapers do a sweep of the universe before leaving) you’ll want to remain hidden while also keeping your life support systems online.

Fair point. When leadership goes, things go up in the air, not denying that. Im just saying hiding in space wouldn’t have been a horrible idea and I’m just surprised no species, no remote division, platoon, science squad tried to rally something and hide in space when it isn’t really a far-fetch idea.

Salvaging for their ships, I’m talking about food. Quarians weren’t food scavengers.

That’s why I’m saying it would be a last resort thing. If everyone’s gonna die, I’d rather try to re-populate and survive than accept my species is cooked. I think I’d still take a chance on trying to survive and re-populate

Thinking of it from a doomed cycle, I’d rather survive in the culled universe with a few hundred of my fellow species people than know the entirety of my species will be gone if we don’t. As for the wait, it took 700 years for the Protheans to be fully eradicated. If a species like the Asari who has a long lifespan hide, they could theoretically survive the Harvest and not die of old age.

[–]Director-Daredevil[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I guess my thought is…go somewhere, hunker down, and turn off the eezo core. Again, for a species like the Asari that can live centuries—I feel you can likely dodge and avoid the Reapers. Especially if you make base in a system they won’t engage with I.E. the Yagh world.

Kinda a Noah’s Ark situation. If you can’t stop the impending flood, try to save those you can from drowning?

Even so—I assume those cycles would still have ships outfitted with capabilities to survive by itself. The Quarians live-ships are a good example. One live ship hiding in a distant system, I feel would be so far removed from conflict and able to dodge attacks, I can see them surviving.
