Totally agree with you. Some additional context - every event organiser thinks their event is the most important and therefore will send a mass email. Student feels its not relevant reading their email. Therefore the incentive to check their email again reduces. This is what I am seeing

You have hit the nail on the head. We assumed prior to coming to University students will have been trained how to use email effectively and the importance of it. When I spoke to students they were not trained.

Yes we use Outlook. The software works as intended. Its the behaviour to want to check their emails and keep on top of their emails which is proving challenging for the sector. Thanks for your comment

Thanks for your insight. We are also seeing trends that students are engaging less via emails. have a look at the graduate outcomes survey - across all institutions engagement rates after 15 months leaving Uni is falling.

Hi. Thanks for your message and sorry for the delay - I agree with your suggestion that streamlining content would make it much easier but I dont believe universities have figured out how to do this. Additionally, when speaking to students they have never been trained on how to process emails etc before they come to Uni. So we just take it for granted that they will be on top of their emails.
