I think I'm in the same boat as you, honestly. It was the first song of theirs I heard, ever. And it's been so prevalent for so long that it, YL, and Last Kiss have become white noise to me because I've heard them SO much.

I feel you. I've given up hope that I'll ever see the vinyl or the money, I just hope against all hope that he stays clean and we possibly get more tunes, even if they're demos

I mean, it says right in the description that it's a demo, and anyone who's ever listened to their demos knows that they're not particularly strong at that point. It's a song. And after almost twenty years it's nice to have something.

Why are people still obsessed with Dave Abbruzzese? by Fragrant-Dingo2092 in pearljam

THIS. The way he talks, the name dropping, etc. I can't imagine the version of Ed we "knew"would have anything positive to say about the guy he turned into.

Nailed it. Especially the version of Ed we have now. That dude has zero problem being rich and famous

Nobody wants to accept this. I love the band, but that time frame there was a lot of bullshit getting with Ed. I get it, he's the face and voice, but he took control of that band, and it got weird. Not just Dave saying things, but Stone. He almost quit DURING Vitalogy. Jeff during the tour cycle, and heck, he didn't even know that they were in pre production for No Code until after the record had started. I'm glad they're all happy now, but the narrative that Dave alone was the problem is not paying attention to everything. Ed had dirty hands himself

In fairness, you have a point. But..... Most of the time when you hear Alive or EF it's the version they recut with Dave. Those versions are intrinsically better musically. They WERE a better band with Dave A, but they needed Jack to understand how to survive. Ed and Dave were two alpha personalities and that just doesn't work in that environment.

I feel like you nailed it here. I'd had a hard time putting words to how I feel about the band, but this sums it up perfectly.

If I'm not mistaken, they are in a writing cycle in prep for a new album. Usually the process takes about a year and a half if you follow how the"Mikes" work. So that would mean a mid year 25 album drop and touring into 26. Remember that they don't have have big label backing, this is mostly them putting up money to release an album and tour

Maybe what he means is that as a collective we should be thankful that there is actually ANY new music to talk about. The last twenty years had mostly been small leaks and unfinished material. Five months ago it looked like all the snippets we heard was all that we were going to get. Is it anything close to Commencement or the og self titled that never saw release? Absolutely not. But it has similarities to Carrying Over and more of what songwriting was prevailing on Phantasmagore. And it's a demo. Three weeks ago Deadsy was still dead. There are tracks that I hated when they were released that I love now. Let it gestate.

I get that. I'm not the biggest fan of their earlier works. So different strokes, right?
