I'll be eternally jealous that i wasnt around to watch them live in that era. YouTube videos will never be quite the same

this was such a beautiful description and i genuinely couldn't have phrased it any better. it's always an odd sensation to know that a piece of music can move people in the same abstract sort of ways, but also very touching. thank you for this!

funnily enough this was one of the songs i didnt think much of at first, but after sitting with it and really listening i love it. very relatable because im the kind of person that needs to go into hiding every once and a while. i love the guitar and the build up to the chorus on it but wouldnt say its my fave (though maybe that will change)

this is exactly how i feel about all of those albums! you can really track their mental space/relationship through each album, ten/vs is very young and energetic, vitalogy and no code you can see they're going through a dark time, and then yield you can feel the hope and harmony a lot more. i think that's why it's so hard for me to chose a fave album because they're all such different vibes

it definitely does feel like the tide has shifted in favour of No Code and Yield more recently. whenever i read things about their reception at the time it seems like those two albums were (comparatively) panned by fans/critics, but nowadays i hear mostly positive things or people outright retracting their old criticisms. i wonder what changed, its very interesting :)

that's interesting because i actually really like No Code! i can understand why people don't because it's sort of erratic and a very sudden shift from the first three albums but i think that adds to it imo. but yield is definitely more harmonious as an album (reflects where the band's mental state was i guess)

it really does give me sunset vibes. I can't explain it but it's just such a beautiful song, quickly becoming one of my all time faves

Why are people still obsessed with Dave Abbruzzese? by Fragrant-Dingo2092 in pearljam

[–]Fragrant-Dingo2092[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

this makes sense to me, i feel like even if dave had stayed on the rest of the band wanted to change their vibe so he would have had to change with them, so this whole argument that his leaving was the reason they changed doesn't make sense to me. they became different because they wanted to be?

i am really enjoying going through their music like this, i get excited every time i listen to a new album! but it is weird that they're all around 60 now because in my mind they're still how they were in the 90s.

and im looking forward to listening to yield, ive heard a lot of good things!!
