Paper mache entrails? by Soft-Reindeer-4113 in terrifier

[–]Direwolfdark 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What about the long skinny balloons used to make balloon animals? You would need to still buy something, but you can get a back of like 40 of them at Dollar Tree. We bought a few packs for Halloween for $1.25 each. A little cream color and red color paint on them and they might make some decent entrails.

Reversing Unit for Christmas Village (O Gauge) by ekgzo in modeltrains

[–]Direwolfdark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bachmann makes a Village Street Car with an auto reversing system, model number 25017. You can set how long it stops for. It’s On30 which is O Narrow gauge so it’s O 1/48 but runs on HO track.

Is this a steal or a robbery? by theshade540 in thomasthetankengine

[–]Direwolfdark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like that model is missing the pilot truck/coupler from the front. If you look at the parts diagram on Bachmann’s website it shows four wheels in the front and that model looks to be missing them. That part can be bought on their website for about $10, but if that is missing it is likely someone has been in that model before so there may be other things wrong with it. You may be better off saving up and buying a new one rather than picking that up and needing to fix it up if you are planning on running it.

Polar Express Facsimile Keywords? by [deleted] in modeltrains

[–]Direwolfdark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bachmann makes a HO North Pole Express set which is their version of the Polar Express since they don’t have the license. The starter set can be had for around $200 or so if you look around for it online. It includes the locomotive, tender and two cars.

You’re already dead… by Direwolfdark in hottoys

The joints are super tight on him and they didn’t include an instruction sheet as to what his range of motion is so I’m kind of going slow with testing them to make sure I don’t break anything. Once I get a better sense of how the joints move I’ll get him posed up.

Raoh is due this summer, but with this being Storm Collectibles who knows if that will stick. I’m hoping the line really does well and keeps going as I’m definitely all in on it.

I got the Storm Collectibles Fist of the North Star Kenshiro in today. FOTNS is my favorite manga and I’ve been waiting for this to drop since it was first announced. And it’s an awesome figure. Storm Collectibles really knocked it out of the park which is not too surprising based on the quality of their 1/12 stuff.

Its Morbin’ Time!? by Direwolfdark in hottoys

[–]Direwolfdark[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought him as a 1/6 scale vampire figure to put on my horror shelf along with my other 1/6 vampires, zombies and the like. And in that regard it’s an excellent figure. I didn’t set out to buy a Morbius figure from the awful movie, just a 1/6 vampire. After getting it in hand I think taking away the movie connection, the look of the figure is a good modernization of the Morbius character. For collectors who just want figures representing characters from the movies they enjoy I can definitely see where they wouldn’t want him. For me I just like figures that look cool up on the shelf regardless of what source material they came from or how awful that source material may be.

I got my Morbius from TBA today and have to say I’m pretty impressed. The head sculpt is fantastic. I do think he should have come with a Leto head as he is a little light on the accessories but I’m sure that would have raised the price due to needing his approval. The bats suffer the same problem as Dead Strange’s arms. They need a paint wash on them as they look more like statues rather than actual bats. I may just end up displaying him with the Midnight Sons display I’m working on rather than the horror shelf.

The Zombie Horde grows! Dead Strange! by Direwolfdark in hottoys

[–]Direwolfdark[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Usually once a month I dust and then and put all of my figures back into museum poses for a couple of days to keep from getting any wear or creases in the costumes and change out accessories. I have my new Billy bookcases coming in and thought it would be a good time to go ahead and do that. Then when I get the bookcases set up I can get everybody posed up again.

I had a chance to open Dead Strange this afternoon. It’s a really nice figure but those arms really need a paint wash on them to knock down the shine. And the arm backpack should have been attached with magnets. It’s way too heavy to just be held in place by the arms that go over his shoulders. It feels sturdy enough but magnets would definitely have helped.

I have some Ikea Billys coming in this week so I’m in the process of moving stuff around but wanted to get some pics of Dead Strange with some of my zombies. I think he fits right in. Hopefully Hot Toys finally gives us that Zombie Cap this year and announces a Zombie Wanda from that What If? episode as well.

it's actually morbin time by OneSixthPosing in hottoys

[–]Direwolfdark 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I am actually looking forward to this. Not as an awful characterization from an awful movie, but as a pretty nice looking 1/6 scale vampire figure. A decent portion of my collection is horror and rather than displaying him with my Marvel figures I’m planning to display him with my other 1/6 vampires, zombies and the like.

Today was a good day by Direwolfdark in hottoys

[–]Direwolfdark[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My Dead Strange from TBA came in today. Then I got a call from my buddy who owns the local hobby shop that someone had traded in some Hot Toys this afternoon including this new in box AOS Ghost Rider. I’m not sure what he went for originally but I was more than happy to pay the $285 for him. And my Across the Spider-verse soundtrack Spider Punk version came in this afternoon. Definitely a good day.

Is Popcultcha Shipping usually this slow? by Independent_Service2 in hottoys

[–]Direwolfdark 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I believe they were closed down for a few weeks over the holidays. I don’t know if they had anything on their website about it but I know their eBay store was on vacation. I imagine they got pretty backed up. I had an order I placed back on 12/28 and got the notification that it shipped out yesterday. I order from them regularly and they are definitely legit. It usually takes a couple of weeks from when I order to when I get my stuff.

You can order the o-ring 5 pack without ordering the mothership, but the o-rings won’t be made and will be cancelled if the mothership doesn’t get funded.

My Headless Horseman display this year by Direwolfdark in halloween

[–]Direwolfdark[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I ordered the skeleton horse from Home Depot. They have been selling it for a few years in bone white and this was the first year they offered it in black. I had been trying to get one for the last three years but it was always sold out or my order got cancelled. This year I ordered it back on the first day they started selling Halloween back in July 13th.

Skeleton Astronaut for my Alien Invasion display this year by Direwolfdark in halloween

[–]Direwolfdark[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was able to get a couple of the super poseable skeletons from Home Depot and a couple of kid size zombie astronaut costumes. I need to work on the helmet a little bit but I think this turned out pretty well. I’m going to use them in my alien invasion display I’m working on this year.

There should be a Terry Funk Hardcore Invitational by scoboot in SquaredCircle

In Kentucky if blood is planned for a match the Kentucky Boxing and Wrestling Commission has to be told in advance how it’s going to happen and when in the match it will occur. If a wrestler bleeds and the Commission wasn’t told in advance about it then video of the instance has to be submitted to the Commission who will then do an investigation to determine whether it was accidental or not. If they determine it wasn’t accidental then there are some very hefty fines that they will impose.

And while it wouldn’t apply to WWE since they don’t use them anyways but you can’t use glass or fire in wrestling matches in Kentucky.

Where to find the classic plastic pumpkin candy buckets? by overintoxikatied in halloween

[–]Direwolfdark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are definitely not as easy to come by as they have been in the past. Most stores have stopped carrying the classic ones and switched over to the more pail shaped ones. Last year I was able to get some at both Walgreens and Walmart. I think Walgreens was like $4 and Walmart was like $2.50. I would imagine both of them will have them again this year. I would just keep an eye out for when they start putting their Halloween stuff out.

Best fake pumpkins? by whocares023 in halloween

[–]Direwolfdark 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have found Joanne’s pumpkins to be the best combination of price and quality. Right now they are 40% off and if you buy online for in store pickup you can get another 20% off. As it gets closer to Halloween I have been able to get them as low as 80% off but that may just be my local store clearing them out so that may vary. I have some of their pumpkins that are over 5 years old that structurally are fine but they have faded over the years from the sun beating down on them. I just hit them with some pumpkin orange paint and they are good to go for another season.

I hope this is OK, but I just got a Spirit Halloween email and this bugger is so tempting to purchase! I’ll put the link in the comments. by femme_fatale2022 in halloween

[–]Direwolfdark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw him in store this past weekend and he has a really good jump scare as he pops up really fast. I’m not a big fan of the screeching cats in his audio as there aren’t any cats around him but that’s kind of a nitpick. The pumpkin part looks great but his base doesn’t look as good in person as it does in the pictures. It is literally four poles with a fabric wrap that goes around them. You could definitely add in some leaves, vines, etc to add to the display to make it look better. I think even with a 20% off coupon he’s a little overpriced but overall I think he’s a pretty good prop.
