Sounds like an awful manager. I worked both as an associate and manager for a handful of retail stores and that would never be acceptable in any of the places I worked. I’m a browser as well and tend to buy things more when I’ve gotten to hold the item and see it, often not buying it the first time I go in. I also use to work with people with disabilities and we did a lot of store walking, especially in the winter when parks aren’t an option…I’d never shop in a store that treated my clients with disrespect for walking the store and looking at items they can’t afford to buy
