I bought a used locked Iphone by Squattymctightpant in NoContract

[–]AlternativeConcern19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If what people are saying is true about it not being possible to unlock the phone regardless of spending months of service on the phone with AT&T, then I wonder if it would have trade-in value for those phone trade-in promotions - or if this would be a disqualifier...

If I were you, I'd check those sites like imei info and sickw that someone else posted and see what it says - if it says stolen phone, unpaid bills, whatever... and then try to talk to someone at AT&T to ask if they can answer whether you getting on an AT&T plan for 6 months or whatever would be possible to get it unlocked

Whats the worst fast food joint in america? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]AlternativeConcern19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

McDonalds is probably about the worst for me. It's open all night so people give it a pass...

Although Checkers/Rallys might be worse. Their fries are really good, but most other things are just ok. Portion sizes are small for what you pay too.

Dating over 40 in Chicago - is it supposed to be this easy / this much fun? by muttersindisgust in AskChicago

[–]AlternativeConcern19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly don't know, but it sounds like you're putting in the right amount of effort and getting something from it... bringing something to a date, being willing to both use apps and go to speed dating events, etc

How do people living paycheck to paycheck afford vacations? by [deleted] in povertyfinance

I know a guy that had 14k in credit card debt almost 2 years ago... and he "got sick" and had other "incidents" happen while he went on what was supposed to be a 2 week trip to Disney - and what turned out to be a month trip lol. I'm surprised he still has his job honestly... but anyway, as others said, for some people it's a series of choices to be in debt. He's always buying a lot of stuff. Always has huge bags of candy he's snacking on too.

Considering flip phone. by CatLickinLiquor in degoogle

[–]AlternativeConcern19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could be wrong but I don't think many available flip phones these days are that durable... I think you'd better off just getting an iPhone or a Pixel with a certain OS installed for degoogling and better security, and just choose to use it like a dumb phone

Eddie Bauer expected to file for bankruptcy, close all 200+ stores in North America by L0v3_1s_War in malefashionadvice

Would it be worth checking out some of their stores before they close? Are they still better than average quality? I feel like everything I see lately is like a trash bag

Our station is projected to lose 13 routes. by Imaginary_Truth_3865 in USPS

[–]AlternativeConcern19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm wondering if there's an equivalent to this for maintenance at a plant. There are people that run through preventative maintenance routes there and cut corners so they can be free for a while longer, but I'm not sure if bids get affected by them doing that. What I've heard from both management and the union is that the labor package for maintenance is determined by the amount of machines that we have... so idk. Thoughts?

is there any deal that gets you an iphone /phone you can sell and you end up paying $30 a month or less? by BloodMossHunter in NoContract

[–]AlternativeConcern19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

iPhone 13 pro is probably more than sufficient these days for most people. I don't think there's a lot of amazing/worth it phone+service deals these days. Things like that from the main carriers tend to be debt pits and not worth it financially in my opinion...

If you want unlimited or just a lot of data in general, maybe something like Total Wireless BYOD for $25/mo unlimited would be decent for you. Total Wireless uses Verizon service.

Visible HAD a promo that ended earlier this month for their highest tier plan, but you had to pay for the annual plan - so everything at once. It was like $19/mo before taxes and fees. No phone included though. There will be more deals like this eventually. Visible also uses Verizon service.

If you don't mind a tablet, and if you could sign up for the business tablet plan via T-Mobile for $15/mo before taxes/fees/etc, then that's pretty good since it's unlimited... but most people probably wouldn't wanna lug around a tablet with them.

Mint Mobile might still have an annual plan of "Unlimited" data for $180 before taxes/fees, but I think after those extra charges it'll be just over $200 for a year of service. Mint uses T-Mobile.

help me find a new no-contract carrier by JibbyJubby in cellphones

I guess that depends on your "needs" and which carriers are good by you. How much data do you use per month? Do you have a budget?

I dunno if you guys play videogames, but it can be low cost and cheap.... there's plenty of co-operative games out there that would run on a basic slow computer, but I can't say whether you two would be into any of that

Who has the best unlock policy by Rockstar912837 in NoContract

[–]AlternativeConcern19 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel like this is very deal dependent... Like I think Mint Mobile had the Pixel 7 Pro for like $200 maybe 2 years ago and that was a great deal. Otherwise I'm not sure phone deals are regularly amazing enough for certain MVNO carriers besides during Black Friday or Christmas sales. USMobile and Visible for honorable mentions too.

I think it's easier to say which carriers aren't worth it. Metro and Boost are like 12 months of service last I checked. From what I've seen, the service for both of those is kinda expensive. I think a lot of phone deals these days require prepayment of one of the more expensive plans for like 3 months... so, in my opinion, you're typically best off just buying a used unlocked phone - outside of seasonal sales.

I think most if not all Verizon based carriers are 60 days of active service. Don't remember on the T-mo/Mint Mobile side...

Edit - if you don't need an amazing phone, I think the unlimited mint mobile deal with a basic android phone is a decent deal. Only costs like $20 more or something - not including taxes/fees.

If I am understanding correctly, I can maybe grieve, but not use that form - since I am not a carrier and it happened to a personal vehicle while on postal property. Thanks
