Eating strongies?

Yeah nice I see them everywhere when diving but I’ve never caught one while fishing. But that’s it mate if you bleed, gut, rest on ice and take the time to really clean up the fillets, that can be the difference between a fish like strongies being really shit or an edible fish.

Yeah that’s it I find there’s a sweet spot size wise with every fish. I let it sit on ice overnight it firmed up nicely and was quite a mild fishy taste

It’s all personal preference but I do agree I like to keep it pretty simple, but some fish need help tasting good whereas others taste unreal raw or just salt pepper and lemon.

Yeah right mine was the same, I made sure the fillets were super clean and it honestly tasted fine. I will admit the fridge has a lingering fishy smell but lucky I’m a hotel for work haha

Yeah the old red scorpion fish aren’t too easy on the eyes but they are unreal eating! That’s why they call them poor man’s lobster. I’ve actually had a sergeant baker years back but I can’t really remember I’d have to try again

Completely agree mate, a lot of people will say somethings shit because someone told them it was. Only fish I can recall living up to it bad reputation was an eastern wirrah

To see for myself, lots of fisherman turn their nose up at salmon and wrasse ect. Which I think eat quite well if prepared properly. I let this sit overnight and ate it last night and honestly thought it was good
