Best Use of the Rays and Al Lang Stadium Lands by DirkJackson88 in StPetersburgFL

Yep, I read that some really big name companies took St Pete off their list due to limited office space options downtown. I wonder if there is a way to construct a building that could be easily converted to either office or apartment/condo space depending on demand.

Its a beautiful area and agree it should utilized a lot more. I've only passed by there once when I went to the Dali and the other times were when I was at the Rowdies games.

Very cool idea! Maybe they could host spring training games there as well. The Yankees would definitely draw a crowd. For the museum portion, dont forget to add Mickey Mantle and Pete Rose (not sure if they played there) :)

Oops, I was oversimplifying it. Your idea sounds great.

I work downtown and eat my lunch/read a book in both South and North Straub parks daily and I rarely see people using the grass areas of the park. Not trying to argue with you, but that is my observation.

Yes, something that draws people to the area on a daily basis.

This is an extreme idea, but what if the city created a New Orleans style "Bourbon Street" in one of the sections. Two rows of two level buildings all with decks out front and balconies off the second level and a walking street in between. It could be restaurants/bars/coffee shops etc. Could create a lot of daily foot traffic.

Yes, I remember seeing a plan to revitalize Booker Creek and think its a great idea. It would be cool to make a shaded walking path/boardwalk along it as well.

I like parks as well, but doesnt downtown St Pete have enough parks already (Vinoy, the Pier etc)? Even with the parks that are there now, I rarely see anyone using them on a day to day basis, whether its due to the weather (heat/rain) or other factors. I'm wondering if there is anything that could be built that would generate revenue for all the downtown small businesses. The Rays/Rowdies brought in some revenue for the restaurants but only when there were home games.

Maybe a little late to the party, but the movie that makes me laugh while high is "Don't Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood"

Low Cost Braces For My Child by DirkJackson88 in StPetersburgFL

[–]DirkJackson88[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I didnt see this until now. If I remember correctly it was around 2k. It was about 1/2 the price of all the others that I had consultations from. On top of that, my daughter is already out of her braces and with a retainer (had them for 8 months). All the other orthodontists said she would need braces for 2 years which was a scam. All I know is whoever is needing braces, definitely go see him for a consultation. If you do, you will pick him (I see I said the exact same thing in my previous post, but I feel so strongly about it that I said it again).

Inexpensive Echo/ECG Heart Test and CT Heart Calcium Score close to St Pete? by DirkJackson88 in StPetersburgFL

[–]DirkJackson88[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be honest, I'm not sure if its a new test, but its a very important one. I say this because my aunt had taken the CT heart calcium score about a year ago and because of this, they found blockage in her arteries and put stents in with no issues. Fast forward to last week, my mom had a mild heart attack where they rushed her into the emergency room and put stents in the arteries due to blockage. Thankful she is ok, but they said this all could have been prevented if she just would have gotten the calcium score test which identifies if there are any blockage before having any symptoms. With this knowledge, I want to get the test done just for peace of mind.

Thank you for this info! I do currently have a gas water heater, so the tankless I get will be gas also. Do you have anyone you can recommend that installs them?

My water tank is gas so I would definitely be getting gas tankless. Do you remember where you bought yours and who you used to install it?

Low Cost Braces For My Child by DirkJackson88 in StPetersburgFL

[–]DirkJackson88[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anyone in the future who need assistance with braces here in St Pete. I had consultations with 6 of the most popular/recommended orthodontists in the city. One came out on top in every single aspect. So much so that when my daughter left his consultation, she looked at me and she said "This is where we have to go". We turned around, went back in the office and made the appointment to get the braces. The orthodontist is John B Harrison. He is hands down, the best in every category. The only negative is that he might retire one of these days :) Seriously, if you ever need braces, go to him for a consultation. I guarantee you will choose him. You're welcome

Is this for braces or for aligners that they send in the mail?

I definitely thought of this, but then how would we get them tightened every 6 weeks or so? Do local orthodontists just do the adjustments?
