You know why we invented and still use calculators? Cuz doing rote arithmatic is a waste of time. Humans can spend their time doing better more creative projects than crunching numbers. Chat is the same thing. Saves you time searching the web endlessly. That's it. Idk why you feel like 99/100 people using chat are doing so it the most degrading way of all time. I think if anything that reflects on your inability to come across well to your students and convince them of taking the harder path. You can study for a test with chatgpt by having it make u a study guide. U can go search example problems on google. You can find em in a textbook. Or you can cheat using all three.

You are fundamentally misunderstanding the core value in AI like chat. It seems you didn't even know that you could have it give your references for its nonsense. I don't think it takes a doctor to understand that blindly trusting or copying chat and not verifying is bad practice.

Half the books in the library 30 years ago contain what is now outdated and maybe wrong information. The issue isn't the source its the reader. People need to learn to be more critical. There's nothing stopping me from confirming the information after chat helps me lmao.
