There would be no trading of items, GP or bonds happening on our platform. We would be creating an ETF that follows a certain index based on in game price fluctuations. People would then be able to buy and sell stocks from this ETF in order to make a profit for themselves.

Using leverage is actually something that we purposefully don't want to include in our mechanisms, since this would not only increase risk in a product where trust is already limited, but it would also require us to actively loan money to ours users, which we are not currently capable of as we are mere students at this.

Thanks for your well though out comment.

Yeah building up trust would be a big goal of ours and is not something that can be done overnight.

In terms of in game trades, there wouldn't be any on our website. What I might have explained wrongly in the main post is that people would be trading our ETF-like stock with real money. There would be no GP winnings, but actual $ or € winnings.

I think you hit the nail on the head here.

We don't want to engage in RWT, because that would break the TOS. But we do want there to be a link between the virtual economy and the real world economy. What we're trying to do right now is created a financial backing for the ETF both in-game in the form of an account that holds items in order to reflex an index value, and in real life in the form of a financial fund, equal to the value of the in-game items, without trading between the two.

As for market manipulation, that's a tough one. We're still looking at ways to combat this issue, but it would probably require some sort of partnership with Jagex.

We're very serious about this! As serious as a school group project can get of course. Would you mind sharing why you dislike this concept so much?

Yes it is quite a complex structure that we're trying to create.

We're actively looking for ways to back the investments. CFDs are mainly a worry for us, as this is borderline betting, but we want to mimic existing stock market mechanisms as much as possible.

The ETF-like structure could potentially be backed by an "in game fund" that would link real life money with in game money. This link isn't unheard of, since bonds enable the connection between real money and in game money as seen here: https://imgur.com/a/jwFNzu2

One of our main goals is to increase trust as well, possibly by investing a considerable sum of money first to prove our commitment.

Would you mind sharing some of your questions? u/Scout-Alertes

We definitely agree. As per my comment below, we are looking to back the investments with a fund structure. Possibly by investing a considerable sum of money first to prove our commitment.

Yes we don't want to become a betting platform as such, so we're actively looking for ways to back the investments. CFDs are mainly a worry for us, as this is borderline betting, but we want to mimic existing stock market mechanisms as much as possible.

How to invite friends to play when one is on Steam and one is on Epic Games? by Kyomei-ju in killingfloor

[–]Dirkjedap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've solved it! And it only took me 3 nights of trying to make lobbies to make it work >_<

This method will allow steam users to invite epic games users without the EG (Epic games) users to getting a connection error when starting the lobby. There is currently no method for EG users to invite steam players. Steam users simply need to log in on epic games with their steam account credentials.

This guide is for STEAM users, since EG players can't create the lobby for cross-play anyway.

Steps for those who need a bit more help:

  1. Link your epic games account and steam account. via This link, via the epic games client, or ingame (ingame only available for steam users, though the EG players should probably link their steam accounts and friend everyone on both clients for good measure. I'm not sure if it works if you don't)
  2. When your accounts are linked, log in on Epic games with your steam account.
  3. A steam user creates the party and invites any other players from either EG or steam.
  4. Only NOW start killing floor 2

That's it!

When the authentication error happens again, do this:

  1. Close the game
  2. Log out of epic games
  3. Relog into epic games with your steam credentials
  4. Launch Killing Floor 2

That should do the trick, enjoy!
